After having the best season in the franchise’s history and enjoying a bye week heading into the postseason, the Kansas City Chiefs are poised for their opening playoff game on Saturday. While many anticipate that the team is solely focused on achieving the historic three-peat, Travis Kelce came forward to clarify that they are not blinded by the possible feat.
The Chiefs are on the verge of making history this season as they are just three wins away from becoming three consecutive Super Bowl champions– something no team in the NFL history has been able to pull off, not even the winningest quarterback of all time Tom Brady. However, as confident as they are in achieving it, they are not blinded by it.
In an interview with ESPN’s Chris Berman, the future Hall of Famer clearly articulated Kansas City’s focus, insisting that their primary concern is the upcoming divisional-round matchup against the Houston Texans. He asserted that the Chiefs locker room is hardly even talking about the three-peat, which apparently is the hot topic of discussion among fans and critics.

Travis Kelce opens up about retirement plans amid playoff push
If the Chiefs succeed, there appears to be a lingering possibility that the nine-time Pro Bowl tight end might finally decide to hang his cleats. In a recent appearance on Stephen A. Smith‘s podcast, the 35-year-old shared his thoughts on retirement, revealing his decisions tend to vary but he plans to reassess everything once the offseason arrives.
If he decides to continue playing, he revealed he’ll have the biggest support from his superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift. She “loves coming” to his games and always encourages him to enjoy the game and would wholeheartedly support him in any decision he takes after the Super Bowl.
