Travis Kelce remains undecided about his future in the NFL beyond the current season. The star tight end’s contract with the Kansas City Chiefs comes to an end in a few months, and he will be a free agent.

It’s unlikely for the 3x Super Bowl winner to don any other jersey besides the Chiefs unless he listens to his girlfriend Taylor Swift and extends his stay with the team that drafted him in 2013. In a recent interview with sports analyst/host Stephen A. Smith, Kelce revealed that Swift encourages him to continue playing.

[Taylor Swift] She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game. She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.

Travis Kelce said while appearing on the Stephen A. Smith Show

The 35-year-old further explained that a strong relationship makes things easier in life.

That’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship, is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft.

While Swift attended several Chiefs games since starting to date Kelce back in 2023, the Pro Bowler also traveled around the world to cheer for her during Eras Tour concerts. The pair would often be seen walking into a restaurant in New York hand in hand, making every swifties heart flutter out of their chests.

Travis Kelce must set his sights on Tony Gonzalez’s record

Kelce hasn’t had the best of seasons but broke a few records along the way to the Chiefs 15-2 regular season finish. In the December 8 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, Kelce became the fastest tight end in NFL history to achieve 12,000 career receiving yards, doing so in 172 games.

On Christmas Day, Kelce secured his 1,000th career reception and became the Chiefs’ leader in receiving touchdowns. He surpassed Chiefs great and his predecessor Tony Gonzalez with 77 touchdowns. After scoring the monumental touchdown, he dunked the ball over the goal post, for which the NFL fined him $14,069.

Gonzalez heard the news and agreed to reimburse the money. Instead of accepting the money, Kelce convinced Gonzalez to give the amount to his charity.

There’s still one more record that Gonzalez holds over #87. In a segment of the New Heights podcast, Travis’ brother and former NFL center Jason Kelce told him that Gonzalez played a total of 210 games for the Chiefs. The revelation shocked the younger brother.

I don’t know if I can… that’s almost 40 more games. I don’t know if I can play 40 more!

Travis Kelce said

However, if Swift can convince his beau to continue playing, then perhaps he can target Gonzalez’s record. Kelce in 2024 caught 97 passes for 823 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. The Chiefs will play against the Houston Texans in the divisional playoff final and Swift will most likely be in attendance.
