The Kansas City Chiefs were one step closer to recording one of the most historic feats in sports, winning three consecutive titles in the Super Bowl, before the Philadelphia Eagles quashed their dreams mercilessly. The absence of a three-peat may also have hindered the dream send-off for one of the most decorated tight ends in the league, Travis Kelce.
Five months in, the bad memories are just remnants of an unsavory past, at least for Travis Kelce. In a recent address to the media, Kelce admitted that he has dumped the Super Bowl loss in the trash.
I’ve thrown that thing in the trash. I’ve moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason.
Travis Kelce stated
The tight end’s bold statement comes amid a tenuous training camp at Missouri Western State University. His admission on the topic revealed that the player has a different mindset altogether. The Chiefs hope for a similar good run but with a minor tweak in the climax.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end reported to training camp looking leaner and full of energy, though he has not revealed how much weight he has lost before practices began. Head coach Andy Reid praised Kelce’s conditioning, noting that he looked younger and performed near the top during team fitness tests.
He’s svelte right now. He looks like he’s 20. He’s doing a good job and he’s in great shape.

Throughout camp, Kelce has maintained a consistent presence. He has not missed a single practice and continued to make athletic catches across the middle, both during full-team sessions and in 7-on-7 drills. Even when fatigue set in, Kelce reportedly remained on the field, running additional routes for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Travis Kelce shares his life lesson on dog days
Kelce, who turns 36 in October, recognized the demands of this stage in the season. Speaking after a practice session, he described training camp as a grind that players need to embrace.

He acknowledged the soreness and heavy workload that come with daily practices. Kelce added that they should enjoy the dog days for what they’re worth and fight through those tough days.
His performance and commitment in camp suggest he remains a key figure for the Chiefs’ offense. In addition to his note on the training camp prep and the hardships that come with it, he also spoke about being back to dorm life.
Missouri Western State University, the team’s summer base, has long been a place where he can step away from distractions and focus entirely on football.
Kelce calls the campus his “football sanctuary,” a place where the daily noise of the outside world fades away. He admitted that the university grounds help him to focus on refining his skills, building chemistry with teammates, and preparing for the season ahead.
Football has always been the biggest driving force I’ve ever had. Being here gives me the opportunity to zero in on my craft and work toward being the best I can for the guys around me.
As camp continues, Kelce has embraced the structure, focus, and camaraderie that come with life at Missouri Western. The Chiefs are facing an even tougher year after the Chargers, Broncos, and even the Raiders upgraded heavily in the offseason.
