The entire football world is worried about the future of star tight end Travis Kelce, especially after the way the Kansas City Chiefs ended their season.
This marks the first time the Cincinnati alum would not be playing in the playoffs. Ever since he came into the league, he has only remembered finalizing offseason vacation dates after the Chiefs lost their last game.
For the first time, he knows when he can start spending time outside of football. Along with Patrick Mahomes‘ ACL tear, now there are concerns if that time away from football would be permanent.
My gut tells me about Travis Kelce is that he will not be back next year… 25 teams would take him in a heartbeat, especially with the production that he is having… In the end, where the Chiefs are, with Mahomes getting hurt, with everything going on in Kelce’s life, I think this is his last year.
Rob Gronkowski said on Up & Adams
The 4-time Super Bowl champion tight end reiterated that, considering the season Travis Kelce is having, many other teams would possibly jump to sign him.

But as great athletes go, they tend to stick with what made them great, and that is where Rob Gronkowski believes the Chiefs star could soon hang up his cleats for good.
On top of that, the Gronk believes that Kelce’s personal life milestones, along with his successful podcast, could be a good reason to leave the game when he is still considered to be one of the best.
Rob Gronkowski believes ‘father time’ has caught up with Travis Kelce
After listening to Rob Gronkowski’s prediction, host Kay Adams asked him if Ryan Clark‘s comments about Travis Kelce possibly wanting to finish his career with a pass from Patrick Mahomes hold true.

He isn’t the same player that he has been… This year, obviously, there is a little drop-off… That’s father time… When you can’t dominate anymore, you can’t really be yourself, that’s when it’s not fun. That’s when you don’t want to be out there anymore. I would say that’s where Travis is.
Rob Gronkowski replied
The 36-year-old reiterated that the Chiefs star has had a phenomenal career. But as is the case with great players, once they realize they are no longer who they used to be, the fun goes out of the window.
Gronkowski believes that he can see that his fellow tight end is not having fun, and that could push him into retirement, more than the Chiefs missing the playoffs or Mahomes’ injury.
Chris Jones wants Chiefs to finish strong
One of Jason Kelce‘s suggestions to his younger brother is to enjoy the last three games of this year and then decide over the offseason. Chiefs D-tackle Chris Jones believes in the same philosophy.
I wanna finish strong… Success is rented every year. Every year, you have to go out and earn it. Sometimes in life, you don’t get what you deserve; you get what you earn. We didn’t earn it this year. Gives us the opportunity to finish strong and go into next year with momentum.
Chris Jones told reporters
Jones believes he and the team must finish this season strong, so that they have the winning momentum they did not have after losing Super Bowl LIX.

Then, in the offseason, they can work on that momentum and ensure 2027 starts better than how it did this campaign. Whether Travis Kelce becomes a part of that start next season is something only the upcoming offseason will tell.
