Real Madrid have been on the lookout for a right back in recent times, with the search intensifying following the injury of Daniel Carvajal. The Spaniard tore his ACL and will be out for several months. Subsequently, reports stating that the Los Blancos have stepped up the intensity in their pursuit for Trent Alexander-Arnold have also come out.

The Englishman has been on Real Madrid‘s radar for quite some time, with fans claiming that he will be a perfect fit at the club. The player’s contract with the club keeps him at Anfield till June 2025. That being said, the player will be free to talk to other clubs and even sign a pre-contract agreement with the likes of Real Madrid.

Even though there has been no official communication from club or player as of yet, the window for Liverpool to strike up a deal with the 26-year-old is shrinking day by day. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano however, reported that Trent Alexander-Arnold is now leaning toward a contract extension with Liverpool.

This is in contrast to what was reported by Marca, which claims that he will not sign an extension.

Liverpool face biggest threat for top spot against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea

Arne Slot and Liverpool have had a brilliant start to the season. With 6 wins and a loss from their first seven games, the Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League table. They lead by one point at the top as reigning champions Manchester City are close behind in second. While City play their first game after the international break against Wolves, Liverpool will host Chelsea.

The Blues have been a class above their opponents this season, and have forced their way up to fourth in the League standings. All eyes will be on star man Cole Palmer as he returns from the international break as the 2024 England Men’s Player of the Year. As for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota still lead the attack.

Colombian winger Luis Diaz also took center stage for his national team as they beat Chile by four goals to none. While anything short of a win for the Reds will leave them vulnerable to a drop in standings, a win will take Chelsea level on points with Arsenal if they fail to win over Bournemouth. Liverpool play Chelsea in three days’ time at Anfield.
