With the Dallas Cowboys seemingly turning their season around, they still have one more star player to unleash in the form of Trevon Diggs, who has been out for a while.

He missed most of the preseason and was subsequently docked $500,000. The 27-year-old claimed he was rehabbing in Miami as he felt it was the best way to get back to full health.

Diggs played in the first 6 games, but did not have much to celebrate about, as not only did he not have the impact that made him a Pro-Bowl corner, then the team also lost more than they won.

Even when he played, the Cowboys’ defense was leaking way too many points, and they continued to do so up until they entered their Week 9 bye. Now, with his return imminent, a longtime fan of the franchise is not thrilled.

I’m weirdly not excited about the return of a former Pro Bowl cornerback… We got a great thing going all of a sudden… Do I want Trevon Diggs… dragging the energy down of a team that has taken off on defense?

Skip Bayless said on The Arena

The longtime analyst believes Trevon Diggs is not the player he once was. His surgeries on both his knees have slowed him down. At a time when the Cowboys’ defense is improving, he might drag the defense down or be a misfit, especially with others playing well.

Skip Bayless is not sure if the cornerback can ever return to the peak form that made him a 2-time Pro Bowler. Then there is the mindset part that Bayless believes could upset the confidence the team currently has.

Skip Bayless details how Trevon Diggs’ attitude forced Jerry Jones to take action

While talking about Trevon Diggs, Skip Bayless pivoted more towards what happened before the Cowboys placed the cornerback on injured reserve.

He just mutinied against Eberflus… He was a locker room lawyer against Eberflus. Finally, Jerry said, ‘You are just going to go home.’

The 73-year-old feels that if the Alabama alum comes back with the same negative attitude that sent him home, he could upset the balance that is already there amongst the defensive unit. Bayless believes that Diggs could come back to ‘poison’ the locker room, especially if he is not happy with the play calls. He wants to perform, and the current schemes are not enabling him to be at his best.

The concern is that if the brother of star wide receiver Stefon Diggs does not get his way, it could impact the Dallas Cowboys negatively, which could force owner Jerry Jones to probably reprimand him or shut him down.

Trevon Diggs is practicing to return to play

The Dallas Cowboys have placed Trevon Diggs on the Designated For Return list, which means he could be back within the 21-day limit. He is still named as a limited participant in practice.

That means he could either face the Detroit Lions in Week 14 or wait until they play the lackluster Minnesota Vikings. Suiting up for his return against the latter would be a good chance to get back in without impacting the current rotation.

After all, the Cowboys have won three games on the trot, with the latest two their most impressive of the season. It is unlikely that Matt Eberflus would tinker with his lineup just to cater to the star corner.

Then there is also the fact that owner Jerry Jones must have already spoken to his $97 million star, and that would go a long way to ensure the team’s unity is not disturbed.
