Trevon Diggs, the star cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, will miss the rest of the season due to an injury he sustained during the Week 14 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Reportedly, he will undergo surgery.

On Monday, the Cowboys played to save their season but came out second best. They dropped to 5-8 for the year, and hopes of playoff qualification went up in smoke.

On top of it, Cowboys starters are dropping like flies, and the latest to end up on the hospital bed is All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs. He carried a slight knock in his knee, but its condition worsened after the Bengals game.

After the game, Diggs revealed that he was suffering from the same issue that plagued him at the start of the season.

I’m Ok, you know, just dealing with the same issue that I was before. But other than that, I was just fighting through it and pushing.

The Cowboys’ last line of defense, Diggs, Jourdan Lewis, and DaRon Bland, have played together just once this year as all three recovered from injuries at some point.

Trevon Diggs will undergo surgery to fix his knee

As per senior NFL reporter Ed Werder, the Cowboys conducted an MRI on Diggs’ knee on Saturday to get a clear picture of its condition. They concluded that the 26-year-old does need surgery to fix the damaged areas around the knee joint and muscles.

Source says Trevon Diggs had another MRI on left knee this week as the issue persisted following the game against the Bengals. The imaging detected the damage requiring surgery be performed to repair the injury and thus ending Diggs’ season.

Diggs was put on injured reserve due to a torn ACL injury before the 2023 campaign began. He only made his comeback to football at the start of this year, but missed two games in the middle of the season. From 11 games he has 35 tackles, 7 assists, 11 pass deflections, and 1 interception.

Diggs isn’t the only injury the Cowboys have to deal with. Second-year linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered a gruesome knee injury in the Bengals game and needs surgery as well. Diggs and Overshown will join starting quarterback Dak Prescott in rehab as he is recovering from a hamstring issue. Center Cooper Beebe suffered a concussion and won’t play in the week 15 fixture in Charlotte, giving way for Brock Hoffman.
