The Jacksonville Jaguars were comfortably leading 17-7 over the Miami Dolphins heading into the locker rooms at the end of halftime. Fast forward two more quarters and the Dolphins managed to sneak away a win right under the tip of Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars’ noses.

As time came to a close, kicker Jason Sanders sealed a victory for the Dolphins with a 52-yard field goal. The Jaguars QB Lawrence felt that they gave away the game in the end. The Dolphins scored 13 unanswered points in the second half, meaning the Jaguars completely botched it on many levels.

The insanely paid QB believes that they have a confident and hopeful squad despite the disappointing loss. He further pointed out that they have a lot to take in from the game, especially to avoid giving away games like yesterday. Lawrence also made it a point that the schedule is packed with good teams who will pose strong challenges.

There’s going to be a lot to learn from Week 1. It’s early, and we’ve got a lot of confidence in the group we have. We’ve got a really good team, but we can’t give games away, especially against another really good team, which is going to be every week
Trevor Lawrence said in the press conference

In the first half, he completed nine out of 14 passes for a total of 125 yards and one touchdown. However, in the second half, his performance declined. He only attempted seven passes, completing just three of them for a total of 37 yards.

In the third quarter, the Jaguars had a chance to extend their lead to 24-7 with RB Travis Etienne Jr. when he was two yards away from scoring a 13-yard TD. However, before Etienne Jr. could slip into the end zone, the Dolphins safety punched the ball from him, causing a fumble. The touchback from this play saw Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, literally, joining hands for retribution and scoring a TD.

Lawrence said that this could have happened to anyone. He safeguarded his teammate, unlike Malik Nabers, and said that neither he nor anyone can point fingers at him. He stated that everyone has gone through this situation and knows it is something that happens.

We preach taking care of the ball, not doing it, but I've been in that same position, and that's what I told Travis. I've done it before, too. So no one is pointing the fingers.

The Jaguars have a week to recoup before they play the Cleveland Browns next week at their home stadium. Both teams will aim to grab their first win of the season after the Browns got steamrolled by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
