Trevor Lawrence is the perfect example of being the first overall pick doesn’t guarantee success in the NFL. His journey in the league has been shallow compared to the sky-high expectations when the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him in 2021.

After losing to the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns in weeks 1 and 2 respectively, the Jaguars sustained another blowout defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, a staggering 47-10. Counting this in, the team hasn’t been able to reach a score of 20 points in all three losses of this season and is up against Super Bowl contender, Houston Texans in week 4.

Following the recent ugly loss in week 3, Lawrence recorded one of the most embarrassing stats with 61 turnovers since his rookie season 2021. After becoming one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league, Lawrence has been unable to stop his team from three back-to-back losses, standing with 0-3 at the bottom of the AFC South.

Logging one of the worst performances of his career, the Jaguars quarterback completed 21 out of his 38 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown along with a poor interception and four sacks.

Trevor Lawrence takes responsibility for Jaguars’ 0-3 start

During the Monday Night Football Match, the Jaguars lost the game in the first half only by allowing the Bills to score on all five drives, giving them a lead of 34 points. According to ESPN, this is the first game where the Jaguars allowed their opponents to score such a high number in the opening half of the game. During the post-game press conference, Lawrence appeared without any proper explanation for the team’s bizarre outing.

I'm not playing my best right now, and that is frustrating. I’ve got to look at maybe there are things I could do better in the week to prepare. Sometimes you're on teams where everything is going right for and you can afford to make some mistakes and find a way to win. We're just not there right now. We have to make those plays early. Got to settle in earlier.
Trevor Lawrence told the reporters

Amid the team’s struggle, Lawrence didn’t step back from taking responsibility for the 0-3 start to the 2024 season and held himself accountable. However, if the Jaguars suffer another losing season, the quarterback as well as head coach Doug Pederson would be placed on the hot seat regarding their future with the team.
