Gabe Davis' pent-up frustration had an outburst on his quarterback Trevor Lawrence because of how poorly the Jaguars' season has gone so far.

Trevor Lawrence finally celebrated a win for the first time since last December after the Jacksonville Jaguars opened their win count for the 2024 season with a victory over the Indianapolis Colts following four straight defeats. The situation could easily have been different if Gabe Davis had not contained himself.

Ironically, there is no video footage despite hundreds of cameras recording every move, but it did go down. According to eyewitness accounts shared on X (previously known as Twitter), Davis nearly punched Lawrence in the Jaguars dugout.

Well, the cause of the sudden outburst is speculative, but the short version is that the Jags quarterback slammed the tablet, which contains all the plays and highlights on the table, and almost broke it in half. This ticked off Gabe Davis, who was watching 39-yard-old Joe Flacco running 20 yards with the ball.

Social media furiously searched for video footage of the heated altercation between Trevor Lawrence and Gabe Davis

If others didn’t stop Davis, then perhaps Lawrence would be missing a few teeth. Certainly, destroying a tablet isn’t exactly a massive reason for the wide receiver to lash out. So, there has to be a much deeper reason for his anger.

If fans took a quick peek at the stat sheet from the game, they would instantly realize what triggered Davis. He only had 3 catches all game and 12 all season for just 159 yards, and after 7 days, teams will play Week 6 football.

One might point fingers at Trevor Lawrence for not utilizing the 25-year-old better with him roaming free most of the time. However, to the quarterback’s defense, he threw 28 completions, 371 yards, and 2 touchdowns, so he wasn’t wasting many opportunities for once.

Perhaps the frustration is elsewhere. Lawrence targeted Davis eight times, from which he dropped the ball twice and fumbled once. On the flip side, Lawrence also ignored the former Bills wideout several times, which even agitated fans on social media.

Both should throw a party for rookie kicker Cam Little for not missing from 49 yards; otherwise, the Colts would be laughing their way back to Indiana.

Even though the cry for video footage trended throughout the day, no one could provide any. Yet the altercation did happen because Lawrence admitted to it in the post-game presser when asked by the reporters. However, the situation wasn’t as mortal combat-esque as most tweets made it out to be.

Jaguars’ content creator James Johnson asked the Clemson graduate whether he did break a tablet in half. Trevor Lawrence, with a smile on his face, gave his version of the story.

Sat it down firmly… It happens in this game. If you had played it, you would have known. People who haven’t don’t really understand all the emotions that go into it. There was a little frustration. We had a little back-and-forth and cleared it up. Stuff like that is important, and I love it when stuff like that happens. If I am pissed about something [or] he is pissed about something, let’s talk about it and move on. We did a great job of that.

Trevor Lawrence said

Whatever their differences are, as Lawrence highlighted, talking with each other is the best course of action.

It builds teamwork, trust, and camaraderie. The Jaguars will need that in the next game when they travel to the windy city and play the Chicago Bears.
