The Toronto Blue Jays have forced Game 7 in the American League Championship Series (ALCS). After a strong pitching performance from Trey Yasavage, the Canadian side emerged as 6-2 winners. After the game, the pitcher joined David Ortiz in belting out a hilarious version of “O Canada“, the national anthem of Canada.
The 22-year-old pitcher has emerged as one of the top talents for the Blue Jays. The American international finished with a 2-1 record through 3 starts after making his debut in the latter stages of the season.
The ALCS Game 6 start was just his 6th career start. In his previous ALCS start, he gave up 5 runs in 4 innings and ended up losing. This came after he threw 5.1 scoreless innings in his start against the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the American League Division Series (ALDS).
The Blue Jays entered the field on Sunday in front of their fans, with their backs against the wall. Following a 6-2 loss in Game 5, they fell 3-2 down and were on the verge of elimination.
Manager John Schneider would turn towards Yesavage and hand the young pitcher an important start. He would repay the trust his skipper put in him.
In the 3rd inning, the Mariners loaded up the bases with 1 out. While facing Cal Raleigh, the 2025 Home Run leader, he managed to pick up a double play as the catcher grounded out.
In the next inning, he once again found himself in a bit of trouble as the bases were loaded with 1 one out again. He forced another double play and escaped unharmed. He ended the 5th inning with another double play. Yesavage ended 3 successive innings with double plays and was left fired up.

After giving up a home run to Josh Naylor in the 6th inning, Yesavage was taken off the mound. He threw 5.2 innings and picked up 7 strikeouts in Game 6. He was credited with the win as the Blue Jays emerged as 6-2 winners.
Following the game, he would join the Fox Sports postgame show. During this, analyst Matt Vasgersian would ask him what was the most Canadian thing he had done since the postseason began. The Blue Jays star would hilariously claim that he had memorized the Canadian national anthem.
Derek Jeter would then ask him to sing it for them. After the pitcher started his rendition of “O Canada,” David Ortiz joined him. The former Boston Red Sox would present his own version of the Canadian national anthem while singing just two words.

“Big Papi” would sing just two words and start laughing. He later hilariously claimed that he forgot the rest of it.
Trey Yesavage heaps huge praise on teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. after Game 3 victory
Trey Yesavage and the Toronto Blue Jays picked up an important win in Game 6 as they edged out the Seattle Mariners 6-2. After the game, the American pitcher heaped huge praise on his teammate, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as he homered once again.

Following a slow start to the ALCS, going 0-for-7 in the first two games, the first baseman has once again started firing. After going 4-for-4 in Game 3, he hit a huge home run in Game 4, leading to his team winning the game and tying the series.
With their loss in Game 5, the Blue Jays offense took off in Game 6. A couple of hits in the 2nd inning and a 2-run home run from Addison Barger made it a 4-0 game. Guerrero Jr. then slammed his 6th home run of this postseason in the 5th inning to extend his team’s lead to 5-0.
While speaking with Hazel Mae after the game, Yesavage lauded the 26-year-old and expressed that he was a “game changer” for them.
Words can’t describe that guy. He’s a game changer. He goes up there and everyone in the dugout has the most confidence in him out of anybody. Destroying baseballs 24/7.

Guerrero Jr. is batting with a .462 average in the postseason this year with 6 home runs and 12 RBIs while going 18-for-39. He is just the 2nd hitter after Carlos Beltran in 2004, to bat with an average of more than ,440 in the span of 10 games in a single postseason.
Trey Yesavage scripts Blue Jays franchise record following Game 6 win
The Toronto Blue Jays needed a top performance from Trey Yesavage on Sunday night as they tried to keep their season alive. The pitcher did just that and kept the Seattle Mariners at bay for a long time. Following the game, he set a franchise record.

His 7 strikeouts in his game took his postseason strikeout tally to 22. He picked up 11 strikeouts in his dominating performance against the New York Yankees. In Game 2 of the ALCS, he did manage to pick up 4 strikeouts.
His 22 strikeouts in this postseason are the second most by any Blue Jays player in a single postseason in franchise history. Only David Price (23 strikeouts in 2015) is ahead of the young pitcher.

It all now comes down to Game 7 on Monday night. It will be the first time since 1985 that the Blue Jays will play in a Game 7. In their last Gam 7, they faced the Kansas City Royals in the ALCS. They ended up losing that game and lost the series after being 3-1 up.
The Mariners, on the other hand, have never played in a Game 7 in their franchise history. The winners of this showdown on Monday will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have already reached the Fall Classic following a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS).
