It has finally dawned on Trick Williams that Sami Zayn indeed got the job done on SmackDown this past Friday by becoming the new United States Champion. The former ‘Honorary Uce’ ousted Carmelo Hayes for the title after Williams inadvertently clocked his former NXT ally with the right hand when Zayn ducked in time to avoid it.

The ex-Bloodline member took advantage of the situation by planting a Helluva Kick on Melo. And just like that, Zayn ended Hayes’ US title reign at the 91-day mark. ‘The Underdog from the Underground’ later received the news from GM Nick Aldis that he’ll be defending his newly won championship gold against Williams at WrestleMania 42.

After having the time to reflect upon it, the former NXT Champion took to X and said he’s been in deep contemplation since the turn of events on SmackDown.

‘Mr. Whoop That’ hilariously referred to Zayn as “The Gingerhead Man” and couldn’t believe that he actually won the US title, beating Hayes. In a bid to spice things up, ‘Trick Willy’ extended a formal invite to rapper Lil Yachty, whom Williams called his HBCU boy. ‘The Anointed One’ asked Yachty to pull up to next week’s SmackDown in St. Louis and let the people know how grown-up men handle stuff.

Yachty was in attendance for last year’s WrestleMania, and he might end up on the show again next month. However, he might also assume an on-screen role at Mania given that Trick Williams wants to talk business with the rapper, and they could form a temporary alliance to accentuate Hollywood Trick’s feud with Sami Zayn going into WrestleMania.

A match between Zayn and Williams was under consideration for ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’, but the initial discussions didn’t account for the involvement of the United States title. It appears to be a pivot in the creative direction, which the majority of the internet audience has trashed.

The comments beneath Zayn’s title-winning outing on SmackDown are crammed with “Sami Hogan” taunts. The fans are extremely dissatisfied with WWE’s decision of not allowing Carmelo Hayes to march into his first WrestleMania as the US champion. They’re also fearing that it could now mean that Melo will be left out of the WrestleMania card despite having put in the hard yards.

Could Carmelo Hayes make his way into the US title match between Trick Williams and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42?

In continuation of the aforementioned drama encircling the United States title picture on SmackDown, the fans are mostly upset that Carmelo Hayes isn’t taking it to WrestleMania.

Taking the title off someone who showed up day in and day out to keep it relevant in the past three months seems stupefying to many. The fans are also arguing that WWE could’ve easily done the Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams match at WrestleMania without involving the US Championship to heat up their feud.

However, now that it’s done, there’s no looking back. Also, if one looks at it, the way Trick Williams interfered during the closing moments of Sami Zayn vs. Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown and consequently cost Hayes the title calls for the latter to have every right in the world to seek justice from the management. ‘The A-Champion’ does have the evidence on his side to back his case for receiving his title rematch.

He could use it to get on the WrestleMania card, which is exactly what the fans want for ‘H1M’. Next week’s SmackDown would be an interesting one, as it’ll likely determine whether Hayes will be added to make it a triple-threat for Zayn’s US title defense at WrestleMania or not. At the moment, that’s the best way WWE could go with to please the disgruntled fans.
