Money in the Bank was a memorable night. The show featured some banger matches, including a bout for the World Heavyweight Championship. Seth Rollins and Damian Priest gave their all to put on a banger. However, the match faced heavy criticism due to a major botch. Following the event, Triple H addressed the controversy with some positive comments.
During the Money in the Bank post-show press conference, Hunter was asked about the vexed incident in the match between Seth Rollins and Priest. He expressed that miscalculations happen in the ring. However, what is melancholic is that people are only going to remember the botch from a spectacular match.
And to me, it's a shame that that's all people will talk about and that's all people will hit Damian Priest with while he had a phenomenal performance tonight. But a bunch of people will attack that, criticize that, comment on that. I don't know why, that's just the negative so outweighs the positive sometimes.Triple H via Money in the Bank post-show
Moreover, The Game heaped praise on The Punisher. He gave him his props by calling him a great champion. The King of Kings looked impressed by the performance of the World Heavyweight Champion. Paul Levesque talked about how much The Judgment Day member struggled to get to the point where he is right now. Therefore, a botch doesn’t reduce the credibility of his star power.
It was a baffling botch that surprised the WWE Universe in the Scotiabank Arena as well. Both the stars involved faced heavy backlash from their fans all over social media. However, the result was in favor of the 41-year-old, as he walked out of Toronto as the world champion, following the shenanigans of CM Punk.
Backstage report on the situation of Damian Priest following the botch
Money in the Bank became an infamous PLE for WWE after multiple botches took over the night. Damian Priest was at the end of the biggest turn-off for the show, leading to heavy criticism about him and his credibility. After the show, a new report emerged online that clarified the situation around him.
According to Fightful Select (via ewrestlingnews), it was an unfortunate turn of events. The report added that The Punisher was the most affected by the botch, as he was confident leading up to the match. Moreover, it supported the statements of Triple H by elucidating the fact that The Judgment Day member is highly talented and such silly mistakes are heartbreaking.
There has been no response from the World Heavyweight Champion as of now. It is going to be interesting to see how he deals with such situations in the week leading to SummerSlam. He is set to face Gunther in Cleveland, which will arguably be the most difficult title defense of his reign.
