Earlier this week, the WWE Universe received shocking news about Bobby Lashley being removed from WWE’s internal roster. Moreover, the rumors of his departure from the Stamford-based company became stronger when it was reported that The Almighty had declined a new contract offered by WWE. Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, expressed his views on the current situation amid rumors of Lashley’s departure.
While speaking with Mail Sport, Triple H described it as a normal process in every sport. He explained that the process involves signing talents, offering them new contracts, or eventually releasing them when their contracts expire. Hunter said that it was an ongoing process, and they consider it part of the routine.
Along with Bobby Lashley, stars like MVP and Tamina are no longer included in the internal roster. While there is no news about the Samoan, the former U.S. Champion seemingly confirmed his departure through various social media posts. The Hurt Business member also disclosed that he won a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and expressed his desire to participate in tournaments.
No. You know, just like any sport, any business, we sign talent, talents' contracts run out, we release talent, it's just part of the process. So it's an ongoing thing.Triple H via the Mail Sport
Speaking of Lashley, he was coming off a win at WrestleMania XL against Karrion Kross‘ Final Testament. The former world champion was supposed to take part in the King of the Ring Tournament but couldn’t due to an undisclosed injury. Fans all over the world are eagerly anticipating seeing where he goes once his contract with WWE expires.
Wrestling veteran Vince Russo was frustrated with the news of Bobby Lashley and compared him with Sami Zayn
Not only fans, but wrestling veteran Vince Russo was also dissatisfied with the rumors regarding Lashley’s departure. His contract is due to expire at the end of the month, and it looks like he isn’t going to wrestle for the Stamford-based company anymore. Russo expressed his honest opinion on the news.
While speaking on the Legion of Raw podcast, the veteran was livid with the difference in treatment between The Almighty and Sami Zayn. He stated that any non-wrestling fan would pick the former WWE Champion as the superstar, not Zayn. In a rather harsh statement, Russo expressed frustration that the 40-year-old star headlined Raw on the same night the news about Lashley broke.
Seriously, if you took a picture of Bobby Lashley and put it side by side with a picture of Sami Zayn and you asked a hundred thousand non-wrestling fans, if I told you one of these people were a star, who would you pick? Bro, not one single person would pick Sami Zayn.Vince Russo via Legion of Raw
Zayn and Jey Uso faced their old rivals, The Judgment Day, in the main event of the latest episode of Raw. The former Bloodline members defeated them with a combination of the Helluva Kick and the Uso Splash. The night didn’t end well for the I.C. Champ, as Bron Breakker took him down with a spear. He will defend his title for the second time against Breakker at SummerSlam.
