Motor City Machine Guns made their long-awaited WWE debut on last week’s episode of SmackDown. And well, it didn’t take long for them to make an impact on the blue brand. The team of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin captured the WWE Tag Team Championships on last night’s show. MCMG stamped their authority, and their boss, Triple H, has something to say about it.
The WWE CCO took to his X account to congratulate the new champions. Posing alongside MCMG, Triple H put over their well-deserved victory. Moreover, he pointed out how it took Shelley and Sabin only 7 days to claim those titles. Going into last night’s SmackDown, nobody would have expected Motor City Machine Guns to reach the top of the tag team division.
They were scheduled to face #DIY in a #1 contenders tag team match. After an enthralling back-and-forth encounter, the new signings emerged victorious. However, their celebrations were cut short by Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline. Sikoa insisted on MCMG challenging them for the tag titles on the same night. Despite Nick Aldis refusing to do so, Shelley and Sabin accepted the challenge.
On one hand… a long time coming.

On the other hand… three matches in @WWE, and they’re already champions.

Following a chaotic main event, Motor City Machine Guns dethroned the Tongans to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions. Albeit said, it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and Jey Uso. The latter took revenge on the Sikoa-led faction for costing him the Intercontinental Championship on Raw.
What else transpired on the latest episode of SmackDown?
Apart from the shocking title change, there was a lot to unpack from last night’s episode of SmackDown. In the opening segment, Triple H granted Randy Orton his match against Kevin Owens at Crown Jewel. After pinning Bayley last week, Candice LeRae failed to capitalize on her momentum as she lost to Naomi.
Cody Rhodes and Gunther exchanged words ahead of their upcoming match at Crown Jewel. This led to a brawl, which ended with Orton saving his friend from a 2-on-1 beatdown by Imperium. Elsewhere, LA Knight took advantage of his role as special guest referee by laying out both Carmelo Hayes and Andrade during their 7th match.
Following the aforementioned main event, The Usos finally reunited as Jimmy and Jey hugged it out in the ring. Roman Reigns watched on, seemingly wary that he had to now mend fences with his cousin. Needless to say, this was undoubtedly one of the best SmackDown episodes of the year.
