Recently, WWE reportedly released Drew Gulak along with several NXT talents after he was accused of grabbing the drawstrings of Ronda Rousey‘s sweatpants backstage. After the Backlash PLE ended, Triple H commented on whether the UFC legend’s allegations influenced the 37-year-old star’s release. Hunter’s take on the whole incident was quite interesting, to say the least.
During the Backlash post-show press conference, a journalist asked The Game about Drew Gulak’s release. He stated that the process of releasing a superstar from the company is completely normal, and that’s what happened with The Legal Eagle. Triple H stated that WWE can’t just hire more and more wrestlers to perform. Surprisingly, the CCO didn’t comment on the accusations leveled by Rousey.
The 14-time world champion further clarified that WWE didn’t fire Drew Gulak; they just didn’t renew his contract after it expired. Following the allegations, Gulak was removed from the NXT roster, and his seat was withdrawn during the Hall of Fame ceremony. Furthermore, they wrote him off television, implying that the D’Angelo Family had “left him sleeping with the fishes.”
You just can’t hire people, bring them in, keep hiring more people, and just keep bringing them in. An unfortunate part of the job is talent get released. Can I say that he was released? He was not released. His contract was just not renewed.Triple H on Drew Gulak’s situation
Gulak shared a post on social media, clarifying the whole incident and attempting to explain that it was simply an accident. He further stated that he mistakenly touched the drawstring of Ronda Rousey‘s pants and immediately apologized for the mishap. Needless to say, only time will tell what the future holds for The University City Stretcher.
Triple H broke silence on the botch-filled spots in the women’s tag team match
WWE’s Backlash PLE featured four title matches, but there was just one title change, thanks to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. The powerhouse duo defeated The Kabuki Warriors to become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. After the match, Triple H broke his silence and congratulated the new champions on social media.
The Game took to X and sent a congratulatory message to Belair and Big Jade for their win. He shared a picture with them backstage and described their victory as the “biggest storm to hit the women’s division.” Although the WWE Universe liked the match and especially Cargill’s performance, it still had quite a few misplaced maneuvers.
Quite possibly the biggEST storm to ever hit this division. Congratulations to BiancaBelairWWE & Jade_Cargill, your NEW WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.Triple H on X
During the match, Kairi Sane tried to pin Cargill despite not being legal, which derailed the momentum. However, an excellent K.O.D. from The EST of WWE and a devastating Jaded were enough to secure them the win. Looking at the chemistry between both superstars, it doesn’t seem like the duo will be dropping the titles anytime soon.
