Since CM Punk returned to WWE after nearly ten years, he and Seth Rollins haven’t seen eye to eye. Seeing the animosity between the two, fans were excited to see their match at WrestleMania XL for the World Heavyweight Title. However, The Best in the World suffered a torn tricep at the Royal Rumble PLE, scrapping all the plans. Now, after five months, Triple H has made a big revelation regarding the match.

In a documentary called “WrestleMania XL: Behind The Curtain,” Triple H talked about the original plans for CM Punk at WrestleMania 40. He revealed that plans were in motion for Seth Rollins to defend his World Heavyweight Title against The Best in the World at the Show of Shows. However, due to Punk’s tricep injury caused by Drew McIntyre, they had to scrap it all.

Despite that, both superstars played important roles at WrestleMania XL and were the center of attention at the event. Rollins performed on both nights; in the main event of Night One, he and Cody Rhodes lost to The Rock and Roman Reigns in a tag team match. On Night Two, he defended his world title against Drew McIntyre and lost as well. However, that’s where Punk got his revenge on The Scottish Warrior by attacking him, which led to Damian Priest taking the title away from McIntyre.

That kicked off the heated rivalry between Punk and McIntyre and is still going strong. Meanwhile, the former Shield member got back into the title picture and will challenge Priest for the title at Money in the Bank PLE. The match is bound by a stipulation: if Rollins loses, he can never challenge for that title again. However, if the opposite happens, the Archer of Infamy has to leave Judgment Day.

Drew McIntyre claimed he was the “Best in the World” instead of CM Punk

Whether he loses or wins, Drew McIntyre never misses a chance to take a dig at Punk. He recently won the MITB qualifying Triple Threat match by defeating Sheamus and Ilja Dragunov. After his win, the Scottish Warrior had some words for his archrival.

While McIntyre was walking toward the backstage area, he approached the camera and took a shot at Punk. He stated that he was the best wrestler in the ring and also the best on the microphone. However, the former world champion claimed that he looked more like a superstar than The Second City Saint ever did. Lastly, he crowned himself as the Best in the World.

The 39-year-old star will battle in a 6-man MITB ladder match at Money in the Bank PLE. It won’t be easy for him to grab the briefcase, as five other men will try to stop him. Moreover, the thought of Punk interfering in his match to cost him once again will be on his mind. Only time will tell what transpires on July 6 in Canada.
