“this man ain’t ever beating the allegations”- WWE CCO Triple H’s controversial assessment of Donald Trump enrages wrestling fans

It seems like Triple H's opinion of Donald Trump hasn't sat well with the majority of the wrestling fans, especially the WWE Universe.

While WWE hasn’t gotten its hands full with political angles in quite some time, the key figures associated with the organization have seldomly backed down from broaching the subject in a certain way. The company’s incumbent Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, recently said some words about the 47th POTUS, Donald Trump.

The Game was a guest on Andrew Schulz‘s Flagrant podcast. During the conversation, HHH tried describing Trump’s charisma in wrestling jargon. The former DX member explained that Mr. President likes getting under the skin of people, which is the wrestling equivalent of generating heat. Levesque stated reasons for Donald being the most famous billionaire he’s known.

Hunter mentioned how frequently the 78-year-old politician was featured in People Magazine out of everyone. The 14-time WWE Champion further noted that the US Commander-in-Chief was seen as an epitome of that billionaire status. Not only that, The Cerebral Assassin lauded the Republican leader for the gift of the gab he has that just captivates the masses.

It was quite the choice that Levesque made, being in the position he’s in nowadays—running WWE from a creative standpoint. The King of Kings met Trump in person at UFC 309 last year. The two were clipped by those in attendance chatting briefly with UFC president Dana White, also sighting. Levesque’s father-in-law, Vince McMahon, has maintained deep-rooted ties with the US President.

McMahon and Trump had an on-screen rivalry in WWE that culminated in a Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23. Since Trump-backed Bobby Lashley had defeated McMahon’s bet of Umaga, the former WWE Chairman was shaved bald in the middle of that ring as stipulated.

Fans slam Triple H over his pro-Donald Trump views

As alluded to above, Triple H’s praise of Donald Trump wasn’t expected to bode well for him with the kind of office he holds in WWE. The wrestling juggernaut’s fanbase is mostly irate and dissident after hearing Hunter speak highly of the POTUS. A user posted a Shawn Michaels GIF to emphasize that WWE is often sycophantic with the Republican politicians.

Some in the comments also lashed out at the WWE CCO for his mistreatment of the black talent on the roster he possesses. However, those irate noted that it doesn’t surprise them since The Game looks up to someone who bases everything on color.

Countering the former wrestler’s stance on Trump making the covers of different magazines, a user quipped that’s because Donald was a reality TV star and close to names like Jeffrey Epstein. Some also spoke in Hunter’s favor, saying he’s entitled to his opinion and people in general shouldn’t be upset about it.

Another fan brought up how at first it was The Undertaker who earnestly politicked for the Queensland-born politician, and now Triple H has jumped on the bandwagon. It’s worth noting that while Taker and his kayfabe brother Kane, who’s the Knox County mayor Glenn Jacobs, openly endorsed Trump in the 2024 US Presidential Election, The Cerebral Assassin had nothing to do with it.

Does the online discourse around WWE shows bother Triple H?

Triple H as the creative force behind WWE’s main roster storylines has been a success story for the ages. However, he’s morphed into a polarizing booker of late, plainly based on the creative direction he’s taken heading into WrestleMania 41.

He dismissed the internet noise as something that’s not real life. The so-called IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) has started to turn on its once-favorite choice to replace Vince McMahon. The netizens, to a degree, believe that the soon-to-be 2-time WWE HOF’er is suffering from a creative burnout.

However, explaining why the online reactions don’t ruffle him at all, HHH used Cody Rhodes as an example. One could often find some accounts on X slandering The American Nightmare’s credibility as a babyface, even saying he has run his course. However, that doesn’t translate to live crowd reactions in the sold-out arenas he walks into. On the internet, it’s just the opinion of a few people, Hunter concluded.
