Joining the ever-growing list of celebrities who have stepped into a WWE ring is none other than singer-rapper Jelly Roll. At SummerSlam, he is set to team up with Randy Orton in a high-profile tag match against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. While some hardcore fans have expressed frustration over WWE giving the spotlight to “outsiders” instead of full-time talent, WWE CCO Triple H recently addressed the criticism and shared his thoughts on Roll’s involvement.

During the Evolution post-show press conference, ‘The Game’ spoke about the actor-singer’s dedication toward pulling off the in-ring gig. Hunter noted how Roll promised him that he would immensely cut down on his body weight. Paul Levesque also revealed that the Grammy-nominated artist took everyone by storm with his movements inside the ring when WWE staged a virtual tryout for him in Las Vegas during WrestleMania 41 weekend.

Probably since the first time I met Jelly, he has been saying, ‘I need to wrestle, I really wanna do this, I’m telling you I’ll be more dedicated than anybody else.’ He just always says it. And he asked if he could come to the Performance Center and train with our trainers and get in the ring cardio-wise and get with our trainers and get with our nutritionists and get with our people, and sort of base in between his tours here out of the Performance Center.

Roll had even started reporting to the WWE Performance Center to work with the company’s physical trainers and nutritionists. ‘The King of Kings’ said that Roll has been putting in the hard yards every single day while juggling between his concerts as well.

And I think part of that was he wanted us to see what he could be able to do and he’s been in that ring every single day, just going at it. And he’s dedicated to it; I haven’t heard him complain once about being sore. He’s all in, he’s like a giddy kid. I’m excited for him.

They might not be in the same stratosphere, but that’s the kind of passion Bad Bunny exuded when he was in Jelly Roll’s shoes at one point. Bunny also spent hours at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and eventually went on to wrestle on three different occasions for the company.

‘The King of Latin Trap’ is often hailed as the greatest celebrity wrestler due to what he was able to deliver inside the squared circle. Could Roll crank it up and emulate the Puerto Rican rapper? Time will tell.

During the aforementioned press conference, Triple H also shared what Jelly Roll’s coworkers, viz., Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul, think about what they’re up to. ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ mentioned that everyone is excited about the prospect at hand.

In a business that’s mostly about how serious things could get at times, the tag team match feat. Roll could work to enhance the fun element of it. This past weekend, Orton went one-on-one with McIntyre. Paul, who was on the Scot’s side, got into a heated argument with the Tennessee-born rapper at the ringside.

It distracted McIntyre, and he ended up losing to ‘The Viper’. But Paul eventually knocked out the 14-time world champion only to be clocked the same way by Roll. The latter was checking on a down-and-out Orton. But, out of nowhere, ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ nailed the singer with a Claymore kick. Afterwards, Orton and Roll decided to team up against their foes at SummerSlam, which was made official.

Jelly Roll to welcome Randy Orton on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

It seems like WWE has managed to achieve what it’d been looking for when the company roped in Jelly Roll—mainstream attention! Because this Wednesday, the singer-rapper will appear on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! at 11:35 ET as the special guest host. His soon-to-be WWE partner, Randy Orton, is set to join him as the special guest on the late-night TV program.

The duo, in all certainty, is expected to talk about their upcoming WWE venture. And who knows if their opponents, Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre, will end up being the gatecrashers? Barring the online criticism around this all-star tag team affair, the live reactions to what these four men are doing have been quite harsh.

By the looks of it, that’s exactly what WWE is chasing. Not that long ago, the company president, Nick Khan, claimed that the writers have been set up in such a way that they map out the storylines for the masses instead of niche internet audiences.
