Oba Femi had a great showing over the weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he got to open the show in a non-title exhibition match against Cody Rhodes. ‘The Ruler’ showed glimpses of the so-called freak of nature he is, making the Undisputed WWE Champion leak blood from his ear.
Despite his over-the-top performance, Femi couldn’t force a result in his favor. Drew McIntyre crashed the opener and started assaulting Rhodes to cause a DQ. ‘The Scottish Psychopath’, however, bore the brunt of Rhodes and Femi to look like a sore loser.
Even though the fans were rallying behind the NXT champion to cause a massive upset, it didn’t happen. But the outing certainly established 6’6″-tall Femi as a top prospect for a future program with Brock Lesnar.
It was broached to someone who could make it possible—Triple H. ‘The Game’ joined the SNME post-show, where Peter Rosenberg alluded to the ongoing rumors of Lesnar’s potential WWE retirement at some point in 2026.
The broadcast personality almost implored the WWE Chief Content Officer for ‘The Beast’ to stand across in the ring from someone like Oba Femi before the 10-time world champion rides off into the sunset.
Triple H responds to the idea of a potential Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar match on WWE's main roster:

"Just watching Oba Femi there’s a lot of people you’d want to see him go with. That’s the wonderful thing about it, that’s the wonderful thing about NXT. You get to fantasy book… pic.twitter.com/rRVAVFrSxB
‘The Cerebral Assassin’ noted there’s a whole bunch of names the fans would want to see share the ring with the reigning NXT Champion. ‘Hunter’ emphasized that not everyone is capable of making that giant leap as readily as Femi is, to a degree where he’s already started drawing parallels to ‘The Beast Incarnate’.
Triple H didn’t conspicuously mention the possibility of Femi vs. Lesnar, but Rosenberg quipped that the Royal Rumble is just around the corner. ‘The King of Kings’ smirked at it, almost as if he was trying not to overshare. Now that it’s making the rounds on social media, the fans are growing on getting a confrontation between Femi and Lesnar during the Rumble.
Drew McIntyre goes off on Oba Femi and Cody Rhodes after SNME
After causing chaos during Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi and ultimately paying for it, Drew McIntyre did what he does best—rant about it on social media. He posted a video on X from the airport and started recalling the turn of events he went through at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

McIntyre dubbed Femi as an NPC and quipped that he’d make hundreds of dollars off selling those 8×10s showing ‘The Ruler’ slamming the Scot into the mat. ‘The Chosen One’ gave the Nigerian wrestler his permission to use that picture, where he got one up on McIntyre to make stacks of money down the line.
If one looks at it, McIntyre is another top star fans would like to see mix it up with Femi at some point. They stared each other down last night for a while, and it looked big-time. Apart from taking a swipe at the NXT Champion, McIntyre tore into Rhodes. The Ayr-born wrestler took offense to what ‘The American Nightmare’ said on SmackDown this past Friday.

The former AEW EVP said if he were McIntyre’s boss, he would’ve fired him. Rhodes also affirmed that McIntyre hasn’t been able to capture the WWE title simply due to the fact that he’s phoning it in. What did the Scot say in return?
He iterated that Rhodes will find out that McIntyre, being half-in, is still twice the man as the WWE Champion being all the way in. They are rumored to have a title showdown relatively soon. Could McIntyre turn things around for himself, ushering in the new year to make up for a forgettable 2025? Time will tell.
