December 13 is going to be one of the most emotionally-driven nights in the history of professional wrestling, with its heart and soul, John Cena, stepping into the ring one last time. On Tuesday, WWE officially confirmed the details via a press release. The company’s CCO, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, pledged that he’s committed to delivering an unforgettable send-off to the 17-time world champion.
‘The Game’ also took to X and revealed the official poster for Cena’s last-ever WWE show as an active competitor, which happens to be Saturday Night’s Main Event. It’s being touted as The Last Real Champion’s ‘Last Dance.’
Levesque noted in the aforementioned press release that Cena’s contributions to WWE are immeasurable. And that’s no hyperbole. He will have his wrestling swan song in the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C.

‘The Cenation Leader’ recently got hammered by Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza. It drew the ire of the fans, and some even called the apparent squash one of the worst booking decisions of the Triple H regime. Despite some claims that the match result was altered the day of the show, it wasn’t, as per Fightful. The outlet also confirmed that the creative plans for their match were locked down a week in advance.
The creative for Brock/Cena was locked in a week prior to the match; the result of the match wasn't changed the day of, contrary to reports.

Mark Henry pitches Joe Hendry as John Cena’s last opponent
Amid a blitzkrieg of speculation encircling who would stand up to John Cena on December 13, Mark Henry has come up with an interesting suggestion. The World’s Strongest Man spoke to TMZ and revealed his wish of Joe Hendry as Cena’s last match opponent. Henry said he’s aware of those Chris Jericho rumors, as his AEW contract is expected to expire in late 2025, and he’s primed for a WWE return.

‘Y2J’ could be a very intriguing choice for Cena to trade barbs with on his way out. However, as per Henry, he doesn’t want any already established name to stand across from ‘The Franchise Player’ that night. In fact, the former AEW talent scout said that if Cena really wants to give it back to the business, he should do it to someone who could actually use that rub.
Mark Henry says JOE HENDRY should be John Cena's final WWE opponent:

"In my mind, I want it to be Joe Hendry.
"People say, no, it should be somebody that can… I've heard people say Jericho because Jericho's possibly gonna be a free agent or whatever at that time, or it'll be… pic.twitter.com/JtQCRzbDXz
‘The Sexual Chocolate’ cited how Kurt Angle put the Peacemaker actor on the map following the segment they had in 2002. Likewise, as Henry pointed out, Hendry has already yearned about facing Cena on this retirement tour. ‘The Texas Silverback’ mentioned that even though the former TNA Champion is extremely popular among the fans, he’s not beaten someone in the ranks of legends like Shawn Michaels and even Triple H.
But if the Scot ends up dispatching Cena in his last match, it’d certainly be a feather in his cap and something that every wrestling fan would remember for a lifetime. ‘The Prestigious One’ was part of this year’s Royal Rumble match and received one of the loudest pops of the night when he came out. Hendry was able to meet Cena backstage afterwards, and the latter had some kind words to say for the 37-year-old.

‘The Prototype’ took Hendry aside for a moment upon reaching backstage at WrestleMania 41 as well. Even though the entire world was talking about Cena’s 17th world title win, he didn’t make it about himself at all in the brief chat he had with the Scottish wrestler. Hendry was truly blown away by the humbleness of the Ricky Stanicky actor.
