Nearly two decades after the group was initially formed, Evolution continues to be one of the most iconic factions in professional wrestling. Triple H, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, and Dave Bautista took the entire WWE landscape by storm. They left a huge mark on the wrestling world. After five years of the group’s last reunion, the Cerebral Assassin gave his thoughts about the talent involved with him.
In an interview on The Roommates Show, Triple H said that the MVP of Evolution was Batista. Flair and the Game himself were already established superstars at that time. The two of them had chosen the Viper and the Animal for their roles. However, a lot of people had written Batista off, thinking that he was never going to make it big.
However, both Flair and Hunter were adamant about keeping Bautista in the faction. Everybody knew that Orton was going to be the breakout star coming out of this story. However, the King of Kings had a lot of belief in the 55-year-old. The 7x WrestleMania main eventer called Bautista a sponge, who would absorb and learn from everyone and everything around him. He simply “got it.”
While one may not have known it by watching on TV, the Hollywood superstar worked the hardest in their group and is thought of as the MVP of the faction by HHH. The two superstars are still great friends to this day, and the WWE CCO tells stories of how much his friend struggled while trying to make it big in Hollywood.
Dave Bautista almost never became a part of Triple H’s Evolution
Replacing any of the four members of Evolution today seems impossible. This makes it even harder to believe that Dave Bautista was never even supposed to be a part of the faction at all. Instead, WWE’s original plan involved Mark Jindrak being a part of the iconic faction.
Jindrak, as a part of the group, was being considered so seriously that the group had even shot a bunch of promotional vignettes featuring the 47-year-old alongside Ric Flair, Randy Orton, and Triple H.
Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed, and Batista was chosen as the fourth member of the group. He was involved in many iconic storylines surrounding the group and was even a part of their 2014 reunion.
