It has been a while since the last time Tristan Thompson was last seen on an NBA court. While he has not officially announced his retirement, he has not stepped onto the court since last season, when he was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It has been a year now since Donald Trump was re-elected as the President of the United States of America. The political landscape under Trump has been alarming lately. The President does not have the best of relationships with any of the big names in the NBA. Most players are usually critical of his policies and speeches; however, he did find a supporter in Thompson.
The former NBA champion stepped into a sensitive conversation, offering his perspective on immigration while voicing support for Trump’s strict immigration policies.
With President Trump, what he’s doing first of all, I love what he’s done so far for our country. I think he’s helped our country a lot. In terms of where he stands with, I’m a firm believer because I have family members and I have people that are immigrants. I believe for those that do the thing the right way and get the papers, I think they should be taken care of first and foremost. I think that’s the right thing. I think that’s the right way of going about it.

This is not the first time Tristan Thompson has shown support for Donald Trump. Last year, he promoted Trump’s meme coin $TRUMP across social media. The promotion saw him face criticism from several fans. While Thompson was not extreme with his words, he believes his stance is based on personal experience.
Thompson became a US citizen in 2020 during the pandemic. He was born in Canada and moved to the US on a student visa before making it to the NBA in 2011.
The 35-year-old was drafted by the Cavaliers as the number four pick in 2011. He has played for multiple franchises in his 14-year NBA career and won the NBA championship alongside LeBron James in 2016. After spending nine seasons with the Cavs, he moved to different clubs before returning to the Cavs in 2023.

Oh yes, he single-handedly raised prices, increased unemployment, increased inflation, wrecked healthcare, bankrupted farmers, lost allies, and created a record-breaking national debt of almost 40 TRILLION DOLLARS.

Tristan Thompson’s opinion seems to have split the internet. While some agreed with his opinion, some believe he lacks the knowledge to comment on such matters. But at the end of the day, it is a free country, and everyone has the right to express their opinions.
Charles Barkley slams Donald Trump’s administration for treatment of immigrants
While Tristan Thompson showed support for Trump’s immigration policies, former NBA player Charles Barkley was critical of the treatment of immigrants under Trump’s Presidency. Barkley, who is well known for speaking his mind, never shies away from talking about political and sensitive topics.

The Chuckster spoke about the growing problem of how immigrants are being treated.
The way some of these other immigrants are getting treated in our country right now is a travesty and a disgrace… I think what’s going on in our country, what we’re doing to some of these amazing immigrants, is really unfortunate and it’s really sad.

The treatment of immigrants by ICE has been a huge concern all over the country. There have been cases of the ICE opening fire on individuals, which have resulted in deaths. Barkley focused on the human side of the issue, emphasizing that not all immigrants should be viewed through the same lens.
