There is no doubt that weight cutting is one of the most critical and life-draining parts of an MMA fighter’s training camp. There have been several occasions on which fighters have missed weight. However, recently, middleweight fighter Bryan Battle has come under scrutiny for missing weight. Fans pointed out his posts from the past, trolling fellow middleweight Khamzat Chimaev for missing weight.
Battle was set to fight Nursulton Ruziboev in a preliminary fight at UFC 319; however, he weighed in at 190lbs, which is over the middleweight limit. This is the same event in which Chimaev is challenging middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis for championship gold. However, Battle was reminded of a post that he made trolling the Chechen superstar for missing weight in 2022.
Khamzat is a funny dude, he was trolling all week knowing he wasn’t gonna make weight, @ufc I can make 180 asap if you need some help.

This is not the first time that Battle has missed weight; he used to fight at welterweight, but missed weight in his fights against Gabriel Green and Randy Brown before moving up to middleweight. This should have played to his advantage, as it would have helped him fight at a comfortable weight. However, after missing weight at UFC 319, fans are asking for ‘The Butcher’ to be cut from the UFC roster.
Chimaev himself has a history of missing weight or coming in overweight for a fight. His bout against Nate Diaz at UFC 279 had to be canceled due to a weight miss. This led to ‘Borz’ fighting popular journeyman Kevin Holland and putting on a dominant display of wrestling and grappling.
Battle has been at the center of many controversies, which have put his career in the sport at risk. He is an interesting prospect with a record of seven wins and one loss. However, the middleweight prospect needs to focus on being professional and putting in the hard work to fight at the highest level.
Fans react to Bryan Battle missing weight by reminding him of his Khamzat Chimaev troll job
After Battle missing weight, the prelim fight becomes the third fight to be canceled from UFC 319 after King Green had to pull out due to an injury from his fight with Carlos Diego Ferreira. The Ultimate Fighter welterweight finale between Daniil Donchenko and Rodrigo Sezinando was also canceled due to the Brazilian picking up an injury.

This behavior from Battle has angered fans due to his constant incompetence and laziness. Fans are divided on whether Battle should be kept in the UFC or cut. There is no doubt that the officials behind the scenes are annoyed with this constant inability to make weight. Here are some fan reactions to Battle missing weight.
Battle’s persistent problems with making weight are increasingly difficult to ignore. At the same time, his incredible talent inside the Octagon has kept him relevant, but his constant struggle to make weight compromises his reputation and future possibilities in the UFC. If Battle wants to solidify his spot among the division’s finest, he’ll need to show that his professionalism matches his skills is what most fans believed.
