There appears to be a trademark battle going around in the league between the Baltimore Ravens’ star Lamar Jackson and former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman. The two are reportedly fighting to obtain the copyrights of jersey number eight.
According to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein, Jackson has filed two appeals against Aikman’s company FL101, where the former NFL player is the director. With the matter turning into a lengthy legal dispute, Aikman went on his social media to provide a reconciliation solution between him and the reigning NFL MVP.
Hey Lamar, looks like a worthy conversation over a couple cold EIGHT beers! Maybe Steve Young can arbitrate??

Just like Jackson and Aikman, Steve Young also wore jersey number eight during his Hall of Fame career in the NFL. If Jackson agrees, then they have the beer after Monday Night Games, for which he and the Hall of Famer quarterback are scheduled to meet.
However, that depends on the two-time NFL MVP’s approach to the dispute after Aikman’s lighthearted response. Given, that the former took to matter before the court seeking the copyrights of No. 8, arguing he put in a lot of effort into building his brand around that number but with Aikman’s brand using the exact same in ‘EIGHT,’ it tends to create “confusion, or cause mistake, or to deceive” potential customers.
Lamar Jackson aiming for Hall of Fame with Super Bowl ring in 2024
While handling the legal dispute off-field, the coming season is very crucial for Jackson to solidify his potential induction into Hall of Famer. At the young age of 27, Jackson has already become one of the most decorated quarterbacks in the league with two NFL MVPs, three Pro Bowls, and two All-Pro.
As Emmanuel Acho highlighted the Ravens’ quarterback is on a Hall of Fame trajectory and all he needs to earn his place is a Super Bowl ring. In the 16 games he played last season, he recorded 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions with a passer rating of 102.7.
He earned the playoffs as the top-seeded AFC team and advanced to the conference championship game with two playoff victories. However, as they couldn’t succeed and got eliminated, Jackson admitted having a chip on his shoulder in regards to Super Bowl victory next year.
