Stefanos Tsitsipas it seems is not having the best of times on the court or off it. Tsitsipas came into the Miami Open 2021, as the runners up in the Acapulco Open. He lost to Alexander Zverev in the Finals, 4-6 6-7. At the Miami open, Tsitsipas was ousted in the Quarter Final stage by Hubert Hurkacz of Poland, 6-2 3-6 4-6. In a tournament where four of the top six were not playing, and he himself was seeded 2nd, Tsitsipas will know deep down that he underachieved.

But worse things were in store, as Tsitsipas and his dad were fined $7500 for breaking Covid Protocol at the tournament. Many believe that Tsitsipas should have been expelled from the tournament, and he was lucky that he got away with only a fine.

ATP Spokesperson confirmed the incident and said, “Following a breach of COVID-19 protocols in Miami, ATP can confirm that Stefanos Tsitsipas has incurred a fine of $7,500.”

This is not the first time that Tsitsipas and his father Apostolos have been in the eye of the storm. In the Acapulco open, Mexico, where Tsitsipas participated last month, the Tsitsipas clan were not exactly adhering to rules either.

His father and the other coaching staff could be seen clearly not wearing any mask. One would hope they would have a mask and have it rolled down, at most that, but these guys don’t seem to care about all that at all.

In the Australian Open that 2021, that preceded these tournaments, the whole lot had once again just escaped hard quarantine. One of Tsitsipas’s Davis Cup teammates had tested positive for Covid. Tsitsipas has to be careful in the future, and not put his or his team’s or anyone else’s health in jeopardy.
