After their early-season embarrassment, Tua Tagovailoa and his Miami Dolphins were playing better and getting closer to winning games amidst all the drama that surrounded the organization.
From questions about head coach Mike McDaniel‘s leadership to star wideout Tyreek Hill‘s demeanor, especially after not getting passes, the narratives developing around that franchise had many believing something was off.
Hill had meltdowns, was frustrated when Tua Tagovailoa overthrew on passes, and it seemed he would ask to leave. Then he suffered a gruesome knee injury, and now fans and analysts felt the team was about to struggle.
Despite that loss, the Dolphins seemed to hold their own against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5. While preparing for their Week 6 game, they would have noticed that they had a chance against the struggling and inconsistent Los Angeles Chargers.
The home team held a lead in the 1st half, only to fall back in the 3rd quarter, a lead the Chargers kept until the end to win 29-27. When Tua Tagovailoa was available for questions, reporters asked him about another close loss.
I think it starts with the leadership in helping articulate that for the guys and what we’re expecting out of the guys… We have guys showing up to players-only meetings late, guys not showing up to players-only meetings, there’s a lot that goes into that. Do we have to make this mandatory? Do we not have to make this mandatory? It’s a lot of things of that nature that we got to get cleaned up.

This answer quickly went viral, as it became evident that the Hawaiian quarterback called out the entire team for their struggles. Tua Tagovailoa essentially pointed out that the team and its leaders are not doing their jobs.
Fans tear into Tua Tagovailoa after blaming teammates
The problem with this answer is that fans have a fair idea of what is going on with the Miami Dolphins. They believe this was Tua Tagovailoa deflecting blame onto his teammates, rather than acknowledging that his three interceptions helped the Los Angeles Chargers win.

His interceptions have cost them games this season, and this time again, it was no different. He did briefly talk about his turnovers, but then continued to talk about how everyone has to do better.
Fans now feel that the organization is in a mess. They have a QB who does not take accountability, and a head coach who cannot keep him in check. Fans believe the financial implications of Tua Tagovailoa’s contract will mean the team continues to struggle until the 2026 season.
However, fans hope the ownership takes charge and talks to the Alabama alum in the hopes that he acknowledges the Dolphins’ struggles are also due to his mistakes. Check out examples of those comments below:

I want to know what part of this he's going to take accountability for..Tua threw three picks today…Tua is third in the NFL with the most interceptions thrown by a quarterback.. If you haven't said this privately first..then in the media..I don't respect it. And since we are on… https://t.co/W6V2bczNBl

I hear your point… but being a PRO means you have a standard that you hold yourself accountable to no matter what… it’s not expecting someone else to hold you to that standard, get you ready to do your job or motivate you to want to be great!!!

To blame another… https://t.co/eCP62wR3tv
What is? A dude whose QB Rating was lower than his per year salary up there saying this ?

Complete lack of leadership and accountability answer. Also paints a bad picture of the coaching staff & culture within the team. Clearly, a lack of discipline is one of this team’s issues. The other is simply an ill designed roster of parts that don’t interact well. #FinsUp

Leader would not sell out his team in front of the cameras. Did Tom Brady do this ? No. Problem starts with the QB blasting his team in front of the public

I’m so over Tua. Need a restart. Send Tua packing. Miami needs FULL RE-SET!
The Miami Dolphins next face the Cleveland Browns, a game they should win easily. However, if they struggle against that franchise, it might lead to some uncomfortable discussions.
Mike McDaniel not bothered about team bonding
Many believe Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is on the hot seat, especially after the turmoil in the locker room, which has contributed to their losses. When asked about potential locker room conflicts, he replied:
I’m not worried about the team staying together, I’m worried about us getting our football right. That’s the 4th game that we’ve lost in the final couple of minutes this season… There’s no doubt that there’s guys that are hurting from the game that we let slip away, but, and?

The head coach seems to be focused on their mistakes in the game, rather than on the discord among players. That might be his way of believing that winning will take care of everything.

However, he might have to take a look at what Tua Tagovailoa revealed. Locker room dissent might not help him get over the hump, especially when it requires players to be focused and not distracted by tensions.
