The boxing world crowned its first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era on May 18th. Oleksandr Usyk handed Tyson Fury his first defeat in professional boxing en route to becoming the undisputed champion. Turki Alalshikh, the Saudi Royal Adviser, has revealed the date for the rematch.
The Ukrainian defeated the Brit via split decision in a fight that saw him score a knockdown and almost finish the “Gyp*y King.” A rematch clause was in place before the fight, and the Brit had chosen to exercise it. Turki Alalshikh has now officially announced the date for the rematch between Fury and Usyk on through X.

Fury and Usyk showed respect to each other after the fight, though the former criticized the judges, alleging that they were sympathetic to Ukraine‘s plight in war. Nonetheless, he praised Usyk for the victory. However, he also aimed subtle jabs at his opponent, alleging he broke Usyk’s jaw.
Unlike other sports fans who have viewed Saudi Arabia as a disruptor, boxing fans have applauded them. Boxing has long been embroiled in a state of influx, with high-profile fights happening once in a blue moon. The arrival of Alalshikh changed it, especially in the heavyweight division, as evidenced by Fury vs. Usyk.
Teddy Atlas praises Oleksandr Usyk for saving Tyson Fury
Teddy Atlas is one of the greatest minds of boxing. He had coached multiple world champion boxers like Michael Moorer, Timothy Bradley, and Wilfred Benitez. If not for his animosity toward Mike Tyson, Atlas would’ve been Tyson’s trainer as well. Atlas had an interesting take on Usyk’s actions in the eighth round of his fight against Fury.
Atlas felt that the referee and the Usyk saved Fury from getting knocked out. He spoke about it in his THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas podcast. Atlas praised Usyk as a ‘special man’ for not throwing the punch that would’ve likely knocked Fury out cold. Instead, the Ukrainian saw the referee was about to step in and didn’t punch. Atlas felt 9 out of 10 boxers would throw that punch.
Atlas stated the judge would’ve stopped the fight if it was any other fighter. Since the fight had huge implications, Atlas alleged the referee might’ve given Fury a chance to recover. Fury was hurt in his fights against Deontay Wilder and Francis Ngannou. Wilder and Ngannou had dropped Fuy, but Usyk appeared to rock him the most, considering Fury’s body language and demeanor.
