Saudi Delegate Turki Alalshikh openly expressed his wish to arrange the highly anticipated fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez. At the Terence Crawford vs. Israel Madrimov event, Alalshikh announced that he had made an offer to Canelo’s team. However, 48 hours later, he retracted the offer.

Alalshikh stated that he decided to cancel the potential fight. Following the Saudi Delegate’s announcement about calling off the Crawford vs Canelo match, the Mexican boxer responded. However, Alalshikh did not seem to like what Canelo said. Eventually, the man behind Riyadh Season has now turned to social media. Alalshikh asserted that the four-weight world champion was wasting his time.

I heard what Canelo said that he respects me but doesn’t like the way we do business... I know how he feels after losing to Bivol, so he’s been looking for easier fights ever since... I knew he was wasting our time and making excuses with big amounts of money that can’t be paid...

Alalshikh emphasized that after Canelo Alvarez’s loss to Dimitry Bivol, he prefers taking on easier fights. The Saudi Delegate also pointed out that Alvarez appears fearful of facing tough opponents like David Benavidez or Terence Crawford. It’s not the first time the Mexican boxer has faced criticism for avoiding challenging fights. Alalshikh also stated that he is focused on pursuing major fights without Canelo.

Recently, Canelo Alvarez discussed his upcoming title defense against the undefeated Edgar Berlanga in a stacked fight card. During the discussion, Alvarez addressed recent comments made by Alalshikh. He clarified that he had not requested a fight with Crawford. Instead, the Mexican superstar suggested that Alalshikh consider giving Teofimo Lopez an opportunity.

I'm not gonna talk about any other fight, I'm focused 100% on this (Edgar Berlanga) fight. I respect Turki (Alalshikh) but if he wants to work with me, it needs to be my way.

Interestingly, Alvarez believes Lopez is a more worthy contender. However, despite the disappointing clash with the Saudi advisor, the Mexican boxer is fully prepared and eager to take on the WBA’s challenger, Edgar Berlanga. The fight is scheduled for September 14 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
