Kid Rock will headline an alternative Super Bowl LX halftime show with four other performers, following significant backlash from right-wing groups over the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny as the official act. A Detroit-based musician has teamed up with Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett to create a virtual ensemble running alongside the NFL’s event.
Back in September 2025, the nation was divided into two hemispheres after the NFL announced Bad Bunny as the main act at Super Bowl LX. One side praised NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for choosing a Puerto Rican, from a U.S. territory similar to Hawaii, largely dominated by musicians from the mainland. The other half wasn’t too thrilled by the announcement.
Headed by the President of the USA, Donald Trump, the right insisted that Goodell replace Bad Bunny with someone they know or who at least shares their traditional values. When Goodell refused, Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the conservative action group founded by the late Charlie Kirk, decided to organize its own Super Bowl halftime show.
On the first day of Super Bowl week, FOX News revealed the title of the event: “The All-American Halftime Show.”
GOING LONG: Turning Point USA is rolling out a patriotic alternative to the Super Bowl halftime show — celebrating faith, family and freedom.

Bad Bunny receives support from Roger Goodell
Roger Goodell tackled a barrage of questions from the media on Monday. Gradually, one of the reporters asked Goodell about the Super Bowl halftime show and the backlash it has received in the past few months.

Despite the gravity of the subject, Goodell handled the moment without creating another controversy.
This platform [Super Bowl] is used to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talent, and to be able to use this moment to do that. I think artists in the past have done that. I think Bad Bunny understands that, and I think he’ll have a great performance.
Roger Goodell said
His statement comes a day after Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, called out ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) while holding his latest Grammy.
Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say, ICE out. We’re not savages, we’re not animals. We are humans, and we are Americans. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.
Bad Bunny said
The 31-year-old has been a vocal critic of the federal forces and their method of deporting immigrants illegally living in the country. Despite considering himself a citizen of the USA, Bunny has avoided hosting shows on the mainland. He doesn’t want ICE to raid the venue and cause chaos.
What do NFL athletes think about Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl halftime show?
While the political right and left engaged in a war of words over the Super Bowl halftime show, the NFL athletes remained silent throughout the controversy. An anonymous survey conducted by The Athletic found that NFL players are sharply divided over the Puerto Rican superstar’s involvement.
Active players were asked about their opinions, and the result is surprising. About 58.6% of the players are fans of Bad Bunny, while 41.4% are not. This clearly points to rising tension ahead of the performance.
One player (anonymously) hinted that Goodell made the right choice.
Some of his music is really good. I heard his music all the time, and it’s a bop. He’s got some good music, so I’m excited for that.

Another player claimed that he had never heard of Bad Bunny.
I don’t even know who Bad Bunny is. I always think it should be an American. I think they’re trying too hard with this international stuff.

Regardless, the performers for the Super Bowl halftime show are locked. Only a few days are left for the biggest football event, which will decide the next world champion.
