The annual cricketing extravaganza, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is right around the corner. With just 6 more days to go, each side has stepped up its preparation ahead of the homecoming of the tournament, following the season in UAE last year. Mumbai Indians (MI) are the defending champions and they would fancy their chances of making it to the playoffs and winning the trophy this year as well.

Other sides like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) would want to have their say in the tournament by making it to the playoffs. The former especially had a disastrous season last year as they finished 7th – outside the playoff spots for the first time ever in their history. The latter would want to come up with a better showing after last year’s fourth placed finish.

Twitter releases custom IPL emojis

Twitter India came up with custom emojis today to add to the excitement of the upcoming IPL season. They added emojis wherein if a team’s name is written, the side’s jersey would appear in the tweet. However, what Twitter did not expect was to make a big blunder. When one types RCB on Twitter, the jersey of CSK pops up as it does whenever CSK is also written. This mishap has now gone viral.

CSK’s official Twitter handle also recognized the issue and trolled Twitter by writing, “Ok. We understand #yellove is everywhere but.. hey @Twitter,” They then posted a meme involving Rajinikanth to troll RCB.

RCB kick off their IPL campaign against MI on the 9th of April while CSK play Delhi Capitals on the 10th of April.
