A new era of Indian cricket in T20Is have already started. India scripted history by winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. However, after that, senior players with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20Is. The new generation of Indian cricketers have been drafted in, ready to take over for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2026.
The first series for Team India after the T20 World Cup started on July 6, when a new team India faced off against Zimbabwe in the first T20I at Harare. However, Team India suffered a huge setback as they lost the game by 13 runs. Abhishek Sharma was one of the players who earned his debut for India in this game. However, he returned for a duck.

The very next day, Sharma showed his true potential in the second T20I, as he smashed his maiden T20I hundred. He hit some huge sixes all over the ground and was at his attacking best. Sharma scored 100 off just 47 balls, with seven fours and eight sixes. He had a strike rate of 212.77.

Sharma came into this series on the back of a sensational IPL 2024. He along with Travis Head decimated the opposition bowling attack while opening the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The opening pair took the attack to the bowlers and Sharma complemented an international star like Head, shot by shot. Today, he displayed what the fans can expect from him in the upcoming games for India. Netizens were excited after Sharma’s maiden T20I hundred.

Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bat first. India scored 234 runs in their 20 overs. Sharma scored a century, followed by a 77 runs off 47 balls innings by Ruturaj Gaikwad. The innings got the finishing touches from a 48 runs off 22 balls innings by Rinku Singh. India leveled the series 1-1 in this game.
Sharma has a huge potential in his career. He can also chip in with overs of left arm spin. Team India and their fans will hope that it is just the start of the good things to come.
