The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to Twitter yesterday to announce its picks for the Teams of the Decade in all three formats. As a way of recognizing the most consistent performers over the course of the decade, the apex body of cricket announced a team of 11 players for Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Virat Kohli was named the captain of the Test team while MS Dhoni was chosen for T20Is and ODIs.

While every other country with Test cricket status and in the top 10 of the ICC team rankings found representation, Pakistan did not find a single player in each of the three teams. Despite the fact that there were consistent performers like Babar Azam in T20Is, Mohammad Hafeez in ODIs and Younis Khan in Tests, none of them were picked by ICC.

This has led to widespread criticism by fans of the Pakistan team and also former cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar and Rashid Latif. The former stated that the ICC had forgotten that Pakistan is a member of the body while the latter stated that the T20I team was chosen in such a way that it was the IPL team of the decade.
