Two Manchester City players test Covid-19 positive
Pep Guardiola has a tough task of replacing his goal scorer

Manchester City have revealed Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker both have tested positive for the coronavirus.  Two staff members also tested positive as revealed by the club.

Pep Guardiola will have to look for backup options in front of goal, as both Jesus and Aguero (returning from injury) are set to be sidelined. Kyle Walker is also an important miss at the back, although Pep would feel he has enough options to cover for the right-back.

Manchester City haven’t been at their fluent best this season.

The Brazilian has featured 11 times in all competitions. He scored four total goals with two of those finishes coming in the Premier League.

Walker, meanwhile, has appeared 18 times in all competitions for Manchester City. However, he has featured in 12 of the club’s 13 total league matches this campaign.

The duo will miss the Boxing Day Premier League encounter with Newcastle United as they self-isolate after contracting COVID-19.

“All four personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine,” Manchester City said in a statement released on Friday morning.

“Everyone at the club wishes our colleagues a speedy recovery over the Christmas period ahead of their return to work, training and competition.”

Manchester City will face Newcastle United on Boxing Day, and have trip to Merseyside on Tuesday. They are currently 8th in the Premier League having played a game less than other teams.
