For Joe Gibbs Racing’s young driver Ty Gibbs, the NASACAR Cup Series race on Sunday Bristol was a special event. He took advantage of the impressive momentum he had on his side the last six race weeks with top-5 runs, to secure his maiden win in the premier division ending his three years wait for a Cup win.
What makes the win more special is the fact that he outran the dominant cars of former champion Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney on the road to victory. The No:54 Toyota crossed the victory lane 0.055 seconds ahead of the No:12 Ford Mustang, the closet finish in the track’s history in over three decades. The racer took the moment to call out his critics and haters.
People can say what they want, can say false things … I’m not big on social media. I just love racing cars.
Ty Gibbs said after the race.

He didn’t wait for the questions from the media and directly addressed the Chris Gabehart controversy, where the ex-JGR official who is now being sued made concerning remarks about him. Ty Gibbs declared that he has been working hard and was involved in the same way in racing at JGR as he has always been, ahead of the special weekend.
Obviously, people are going to say false things about how I wasn’t present in meetings. I’ve been the same the whole time, just to clarify that.
Ty Gibbs added as reported by motorsport.com.
The ex-NOAPS champion didn’t stop his criticism there, he highlighted how after his first win his haters now have to find new things focus on. The youngster seems to be more relived that ever that he won’t be the target of criticism at least till the next week.
I don’t care. Something else to focus on, I guess. I guess today they’re going to have to focus on something else.
Ty Gibbs asserted.
Ty Gibbs shared an emotional message over the win post-race
Talking to Fox Sports after his maiden win, Ty Gibbs was clearly emotional. The young racer celebrated hugging his mother and grandfather. In the interview, he admitted that he is missing his father Coy Gibbs, who passed away just a day after his second division title triumph. Scoring the win with the team that has backed him thorough all the Next-Gen era struggles since 2023 was also special for him.

It’s awesome. It’s awesome when you can do it with great people. To be in this position is great. I would love for my father to have seen this, but he knew it was going to happen. Just a great day for us. The 54 boys didn’t give up. Pit crew was amazing. … Very honored to be in this situation.
Ty Gibbs said via Fox Sports.
The comments from the veteran racer shows the victory is really special for the whole Gibbs family, as the have been investing millions over the years to make the youngster the champion driver he is now, expanding the family legacy. It would be interesting how rest of the season is going to playout for the TRD racer.
