After playing in the NBA for 20 seasons, Chris Paul made it clear that his 21st would be his last, and he would like to hang up his sneakers in the midst of his family in the city that he spent 6 years as the architect of the Lob City Clippers.

That is why he re-signed with the Los Angeles Clippers on a 1-year deal, hoping to be a part of a potential championship run by the veteran team this season.

That has not happened, and the veteran point guard saw himself being pushed out of the team after they apparently sent him home from the team.

The news stunned everyone, as there was hope that Paul would retire as a Clipper and eventually see his jersey hang from the rafters of Intuit Dome. No wonder head coach Ty Lue was asked about this decision.

I don’t like it. It just didn’t work out like we thought it would. … Just wasn’t a good fit. We understood that. The organization, they made the choice.

Ty Lue said to reporters

The Clippers’ head coach believed Chris Paul was not a good fit for the way he was running his team, and that led the front office to let the veteran walk.

It seems he did not like the way their working relationship ended, but reiterated that he and his former player wanted what was best for each other.

Ty Lue refused Chris Paul’s request for a meeting

One of the major revelations coming out of the Los Angeles Clippers was that Chris Paul was frustrated with the constant losing and was critical of the team.

Weeks ago Chris Paul requested to have a meeting with Tyronn Lue to discuss allegations of being a negative presence on team. Lue refused to meet with him. Lawrence Frank traveled to Atlanta to deliver news of parting ways. Paul desired final season to be with Clippers.

Then this happened, as per sources who told Chris Haynes that the point guard wanted to clear the air with Ty Lue after the 12-time All-Star was allegedly accused of being a negative presence on the team.

However, with the head coach refusing to meet with him, it seems matters went from bad to worse, and that eventually led to the split. This revelation seemingly adds to the notion that Lue felt Paul was not a good fit for his team.

Clippers’ front office did not appreciate Chris Paul’s criticisms

After his exit, many rumors started to spread as to how Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers came to this situation. Many felt that the team did him dirty after he basically elevated them from being in the shadows of the Lakers to a franchise that produced winning basketball.

CP was holding players and coaches accountable, from players to staff, from coaching staff up to the front office… Down the line, there was a scenario where he was critical of the front office. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Lou Williams shared on Run it Back

The former Clippers star managed to get this information after speaking to personnel with whom he was close. He is in Atlanta, where the franchise was playing the Hawks, and he figured out that the Clippers’ front office did not take kindly to Paul’s criticism.

Lou Williams reiterated that the veteran point guard had earlier apologized to his teammates for his criticisms, claiming that he was coming from a desire to win.

However, the criticisms towards the front office were the final straw, which led team president Lawrence Frank to fly to Atlanta and deliver the news to Chris Paul.
