Tyler Glasnow, on Sunday, broke his silence. After seeing his name come up in trade rumors regarding Tarik Skubal, the pitcher admitted speaking to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ front office and revealed getting some reassurance from the two-time defending champions.
Skubal, the 2-time Cy Young Award winner, has seen his name linked with a trade move. The southpaw will enter the final year of his arbitration contract next season. If the Detroit Tigers fail to extend his contract, he will become a free agent after the 2026 season.
The ace pitcher is expected to land a deal worth around $300-400 million in free agency. The Tigers could lose him for free. In the past few days, there have been several stories linking him to a trade with the Dodgers.
During the General Managers Meetings last week, Tigers GM Scott Harris claimed that no player in the team was “untouchable.”
"My job is to make this organization better, which means that I need to listen to every opportunity."

KTLA Sports Anchor David Pingalore would later express that Dodgers’ President Andrew Friedman was working on a trade deal to bring Skubal to the Dodgers.

Following this, Tyler Glasnow found his name in trade conversations. Glasnow, who joined the Dodgers through a trade deal in December 2023, would sign a 5-year, $136.5 million contract extension with the team.
With his name circling around in the trade package regarding Skubal, the pitcher would speak with his team management. He would then get some reassurance that he was not going anywhere.
I’d seen some rumors that I would get traded, so I didn’t know what to believe. I talked to Andrew (Friedman) and the front office and they were like, ‘No, you’re not going anywhere.’ So they told me I’m not going to get traded and I trust them.

The Dodgers star then spoke on Skubal. While calling him a “perfect fit“, Glasnow expressed that he was hoping for this trade deal to be done.
Speaking of Glasnow, his tenure with the Dodgers so far has seen him deal with several injuries. Over the past two years, the right-handed pitcher has made just 40 regular-season starts for the team.
Last season, he went 4-3 in 18 regular-season starts and pitched with a 3.19 ERA. In the postseason, he made 6 appearances (3 starts) and pitched with a 1.69 ERA as the Dodgers went back-to-back and repeat as champions.
Tyler Glasnow claims Edwin Diaz signing is “huge” for the team
Last week, the Los Angeles Dodgers once again made a huge move in free agency. The team brought in 3-time All-Star Edwin Diaz on a 3-year, $69 million deal. During his conversation with MLB Network Radio, Tyler Glasnow claimed that the addition of Diaz was “huge” for the team.

The Dodgers had some struggles in the bullpen this year. Veteran Blake Treinen had a hard time after coming out of the bench. Meanwhile, Tanner Scott, whom the Dodgers signed last offseason on a 4-year, $72 million deal, struggled a lot.
The former San Diego Padres star led the league in blown saves at 10. Though the bullpen did get a bit better in the postseason, it was clear that some arms were not having a good time.
The team have now added Diaz to this. The 3-time National League Reliever of the Year went 6-3 in the 2025 season and recorded 28 saves with the New York Mets. After they missed the playoffs on the final day, Diaz would opt out of his deal. Last Tuesday, he agreed on a $69 million deal with the Dodgers and joined them.

While speaking on MLB Network Radio, Glasnow revealed that he came to know about his deal two days later as he was not socially active.
I found out like two days later… This year we had some struggles in the bullpen… Struggled a tiny bit this year, but we kind of got it back on track… We’ve got some unbelievable arms in there. And I think just to add him to that spot and just like a high leverage guy is just so huge for our team.

Tyler Glasnow and his team are now looking for a historic three-peat next season. Only 4 times in MLB history has a team won 3 or more straight World Series titles.
The New York Yankees did it 3 times (4-peat in 1936–1939, 5-peat in 1949–1953 and 3-peat in 1998–2000). The Athletics are the only other team to have won 3 championships on the bounce, having done so from 1972 to 1974.
