Tyler Smith excelled at guarding Dak Prescott until the veteran quarterback suffered a hamstring injury in Week 9 last year. That injury was the final blow to the Dallas Cowboys’ season. The team was unable to recover and finished with a record of 7-10. As a result, many people lost their jobs.
Owner Jerry Jones went through a winter cleaning spree. He began by firing Mike McCarthy and replacing him with former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. JJ later hired former Bears HC Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator.
Smith firmly believes that the Cowboys have a valid shot at the Super Bowl this year. ESPN’s Todd Archer spoke with the fourth-year veteran OG.
We can win a Super Bowl… Do you think it’s unrealistic?

Is that a realistic goal?

Is the roster in place to do that?

Technically, all 32 NFL teams start from zero points in week one, so everyone has an equal chance of winning the Super Bowl. But if that were really the case, then Vegas recalibrating winning odds at Vegas is a foolish task, and yet it isn’t.
The Cowboys have a better chance of reaching the final game than most, but to win, they must beat teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and an AFC team.
Smith highlighted that the addition of wide receiver George Pickens and tackle Tyler Booker (in the draft) is a step in the right direction.
We have many guys across the board, but those are some of the guys who are the key pieces on what we do this year.
Anything can happen, from the start of the camp to the final game of the regular season, especially injuries. For example, the Lions’ defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike tore his ACL right at the beginning of the camp.

More importantly, the Cowboys must complete Micah Parsons’ contract signing before week one. Sources knowledgeable about the contract speculate that Parsons could sign a $46 million per year deal, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Smith, meanwhile, bagged a special honor for himself. NFL executives and coaches ranked the Tulane graduate as the second-best interior offensive lineman in football.
One NFL general manager told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler when he was compiling the list,
Most physically gifted guard in the league who could legitimately be a top starter at LT if they wanted to play him there. Strong, athletic, and nasty, and he cut his holding penalties in half last year.

An offensive line coach even called him the best guard in the NFL.
Smith participated in 1,052 competitive snaps in 2024. Out of those, 682 were for pass-blocking and 370 were for run-blocking, with 104 snaps played at left tackle and 948 at left guard. This distribution highlights the versatility of his game. He allowed only 22 pressures, 2 sacks, and gave away 9 total penalties. Pro Football Focus graded Tyler Smith a 75 overall.
The latest news on Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury
Prescott underwent surgery to fix his hamstring and has been rehabbing ever since. The doctors will provide the final verdict, but the $61.1 million per year player is confident that he will start training camp on day one.

I’m healthy as I’ll be. I’ll be full go for camp. I’m healthy. Yeah, I think soon here I’ll probably get the official sign off from doc, but I’m healthy.
Dak Prescott said
Prescott had 64% completions for 1978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 picks before the injury. If all goes well, he should start against the Eagles in week one.
