The Miami Dolphins paid a huge price for winning the divisional rivalry game against the New York Jets. Tyreek Hill went off injured after suffering a gruesome leg injury.
A Riley Patterson 47-yard field goal and a touchdown score by debutant Darren Waller gave the Dolphins a 10-3 lead at halftime. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa looked like the pre-concussion era Tua, and Hill enjoyed his time in the front lines with 5 catches.
It’s the sixth catch that turned his day upside down. Two minutes in, Tua hit his star receiver with a dart just past the first down marker.
Hill smartly went out of bounds, but Jets rookie defender Malachi Moore alligator-rolled him down inside the Jets dugout. Moore instantly kneeled to pray right after noticing the horrid sight in front of him.
TV footage showed Hill’s leg bent sideways from the knee.

This is really, really bad 🙏🙏
He will definitely be out for the season.

Medics quickly rushed to Hill’s aid. His parents came down from the bleachers to look at their kid’s situation.
After a brief pause, Hill was carted away to the nearby hospital. In different footage, the medical team could be seen carefully transferring the Super Bowl-winning wideout from the wheelchair into the ambulance, bound for the nearest hospital.

Mike McDaniel updated on Tyreek Hill’s situation
There was still a game to be played. A couple of minutes after Hill’s injury, Tagovailoa found Waller for his second TD in a Miami jersey.

Justin Fields reduced the gap in the following drive with a 43-yard scramble touchdown. Miami running back De’Von Achane scored his first rushing TD of the campaign (he notched two receiving TDs earlier in the season) with a 9-yard run to extend the Dolphins’ lead further.
Miami led by fourteen after the two-minute warning, forcing the Jets to up the intensity of their offense. It paid off as Fields threw a floater at Garrett Wilson, who rose higher than his marker to score a 23-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion meant the Jets required six in the remaining moments to force OT.
However, the Dolphins burned down the clock before handing the possession over to the away team. The fixture ended with a 21-27 win for Miami, improving their record to 1-3, while the Jets remain winless under coach Aaron Glenn.
Reporters quickly flocked to the press room for the latest update on Hill. McDaniel confirmed what everyone had feared.
ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques tweeted,
Mike McDaniel confirms Tyreek Hill dislocated his knee and will remain in the hospital overnight. Said Hill’s upbeat attitude immediately after the injury made a “giant” impact on the team psychologically. Hill cracked jokes with his teammates and was “inspiring”.

Hill’s night closed with 6 catches for 67 yards, taking his tally to 305 on 21 receptions and 1 receiving touchdown (in the Bills game).
It had already been a turbulent couple of years for Hill. He nearly quit the Dolphins after an abysmal 2024 season and found himself embroiled in legal battles with several women, including his ex-wife, Keeta Vaccaro.
Miami put up with Hill’s issues on and off the field, as he’s one of the best receivers in football. The front office even restructured his contract to amp up his salary to $30 million AAV, which more or less quashed all the rumors of trade.
It was a temporary fix. The rumors resurfaced once more after the Dolphins went winless in their first three games. He was heavily linked with a move back to the Chiefs to solve their receiver problems. That door is well and truly closed with his latest injury.
