The NFL world is no stranger to the highs of the quarterback market but this offseason, one of the biggest highlights has been the wide receiver market. It appears the franchises are well-rewarding their star wide receivers and until now the place Tyreek Hill held as the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL was taken over by Justin Jefferson with his $140 million deal.
However, it turns out the Miami Dolphins’ star is not concerned about giving up the crown, instead, he is happy with the direction the market is headed. The wideout spoke on the subject following his offseason training session with NFL and NBA trainer Justin Allen and reflected on where he sees himself fitting in the growing market.
I'm very excited to like just be a part of the old wave, which was $30 million, and Justin Jefferson came and surpassed that, man. So, very proud of those guys, happy for obviously my teammate Waddle getting his new deal. For guys like me, that's great. I'm 30 years old, also looking for a new deal. So, very, very excited to see where I fit into that category. It's amazing.Tyreek Hill said via KPRC Houston’s Aaron Wilson
Hill held the highest-paid tag for two whole seasons before Minnesota Vikings’ Jefferson earned it. As of now, the eighth-time Pro Bowler stands at the fourth position with $30 million, having AJ Brown at $32 million and Amon-Ra St. Brown at $30.002 million above him.
Tyreek Hill celebrates his fellow receivers’ lucrative extensions
While Hill is awaiting his next extension, seeing his peers get their deserving deals has only made him happy. The Dolphins’ star has been vocal about his support for his fellow wide receivers, who have earned the lucrative deals they got.
He specifically mentioned his teammate Jaylen Waddle for getting a three-year lucrative extension of $84.75 million securing him till the 2028 season. He also tweeted “well-deserved,” when Jefferson landed the record-breaking deal earlier this year.
Hill has shown sportsmanship rather than being soared about the lucrative deals in the wide receiver market as he knows very well, at the end of the day, the growing market will only help his negotiation tactics for his next deal.
