After the bodycam footage of Tyreek Hill‘s arrest was released, the wide receiver took some of the blame for his reluctance to cooperate with the police. On Wednesday, Hill acknowledged that he could have done better and followed instructions of the officers to avoid the entire situation.
In the video, Tyreek Hill was asked to roll down the windows of his car, he initially agreed and once he handed his driving license and necessary documents of the car, he began to roll the window up despite the officers repeatedly telling him to leave it open.
Hill acknowledged that he should’ve listened to them but in retrospect, he was merely doing this to avoid unnecessary attention.
I will say I could have been better. I could have let down my window in that instant. But the thing about me is, I don't want attention. I don't want to be cameras-out, phones-on-you in that moment. But at the end of the day, I'm human. I've got to follow rules. I've got to do what everyone else would do.Hill said.
Since the incident took place right outside of Hard Rock Stadium, the wide receiver was attempting to stay low-key and avoid fans’ or paparazzi’s attention to him.
Tyreek Hill wants the officer who dragged him out of his car to be fired
There is no denying that the wide receiver must have been more cooperative but it doesn’t justify the way the cops reacted to the situation. The bodycam footage shows an officer grabbing Tyreek Hill by the back of his head and dragging him out of his car. He was then laid down on the pavement and made to stay down despite being handcuffed.
The officer who escalated the situation was placed on administrative duty after the incident took place. A day later, his attorneys filed for his reinstatement. The Miami-Dade Police Department is currently investigating the matter and reviewing his actions. Tyreek Hill is seeking that the officer who resorted to excess use of force be fired immediately.

Hill understands he could have done better but is frustrated over the actions of the officers.
Now, does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and do things a bit differently.Hill added.
In addition to using excess force to keep Tyreek Hill down, the officer arrested Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith for attempting to help their teammate and de-escalate the situation. Until the Miami-Dade PD concludes its internal investigation, the future of the officer hangs in the balance.
