There are times when Tua Tagovailoa produces some excellent performances as a quarterback. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill benefitted from those throws, garnering some of the most impressive statistics of his career.

Last season, whenever the Hawaiian quarterback was on the field, he was not at his previous best. That had a proportionate impact on the wideouts’ numbers, and it flared to a point where Hill wanted to leave the Dolphins.

In the offseason, they apparently mended their relationship and were back on track. However, in their first game, the offense came to a grinding halt, and the 31-year-old receiver had a meltdown on the sidelines.

There are question marks about his future as some teams are rumored to be looking into trading for him. But until that happens, he has to continue to depend on his quarterback. Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald decided to ask the receiver why he has not caught a pass over 30 yards in a year.

You trying to piss me off today.

A smiling Tyreek Hill replied

To this, Kelly replied that he was not looking to irk the wideout. Instead, he wanted to know if the throws were there to utilize his still-consistent breakaway speed.

I don’t know, bro. I’m just grateful to be here. I love my job, bro. It will come. I feel this week, we have a great opportunity to go out there, you know, make some plays, move past last week.

Tyreek Hill replied

The star receiver knew that Omar Kelly was trying to twist some Tua Tagovailoa criticisms out of him. He laughed it off, knowing that anything he says will become media fodder.

Tyreek Hill reveals what went down in players-only meeting

After that disappointing game, the players called a meeting for themselves. During that locker room interview, an NBC6 reporter asked Tyreek Hill to elaborate on how the meeting went.

The standard is the standard. Holding guys accountable. Preparation. The biggest thing is accountability. Guys got to be able to receive it in a certain way, and not feel attached. I feel like if we approach it that way, we are going to be fine. We have a really good shot of winning this week. I think it was a beautiful thing.

Tyreek Hill responded

The Super Bowl champion believes that the meeting was important as it held everyone accountable. Now, they are confident of winning their next game against the New England Patriots.

At the same time, he also expressed the need not to be attached to criticism from teammates. Maybe that is why he deflected anything reporters’ asked about Tua Tagovailoa‘s struggles.

Tyreek Hill shifts blame from head coach Mike McDaniel

Another outcome of that embarrassing loss to the Indianapolis Colts was when analysts started calling for head coach Mike McDaniel‘s head. They claimed he does not have it in him to lead a team to success.

Another reporter at this locker room interview asked Tyreek Hill if the gimmicky plays and up-tempo style the team has used fall on the shoulders of the head coach or the players.

At the end of the day, our coach is going to call the plays. It’s our job to make it work. That’s the way I’ve always looked at it… It’s my opinion. At the end of the day, it falls on us.

Tyreek Hill replied

The 8-time Pro Bowler calmly shifted the blame from Mike McDaniel’s head by suggesting that the onus falls on the players to execute what they call. This answer might not sit right with many analysts, who could claim that the head coach has to get it right for the team to succeed.
