NFL fans witnessed Miami Dolphins star WR Tyreek Hill suffer a horrific injury to his knee in their season’s first win against the New York Jets. Since then, they have been refreshing their notifications to get updates on one of the league’s most dynamic players.

The 31-year-old has not missed a lot of game time in his 10-year career. At the age when many receivers start to tail off, the Super Bowl champion was still playing at a high level.

He was frustrated with his team’s struggles in Game 1, but soon started to see the silver lining. Until his injury, many believed the team was starting to look better, giving hope that the Dolphins could turn their season around.

Now, the team has to see if they can do the same without their starting wideout. Considering how their mood when they saw Hill being carted off, it would take a lot of good positive thoughts to get them back on track.

The fear was not only that their season was in jeopardy but also that an athlete might have suffered an injury that could impact or even potentially end his NFL career.

Tyreek Hill’s surgery is now complete and “went very well according to his doctors”, per the receiver’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, who added another surgery will not be needed. “It’s about rehab and he will play next season. The realistic goal is the start of the season.”

According to this update, it dispels the original concern that Tyreek Hill required multiple surgeries to repair the extensive damage he suffered to his knee. That could fast-track his return to the league next season.

Tyreek Hill was all smiles before surgery

Usually, fans know Tyreek Hill as an athlete who shows his frustration when the situation gets to him. When one suffers such a horrific and potentially career-threatening injury, it is normal to become flustered. But the speedster was nothing but smiles before he entered surgery.

Tyreek Hill here, the Cheetah. About to go in for this surgery. Keep your boy in your prayers. You guys have been awesome, man. Fins nation, just the whole entire NFL has been amazing… I’m absolutely honored.

The Georgia native knows he has a long road ahead and will have to keep his spirits up if he has to fight through this. He was happy that well-wishers were sending him all the love that he needed at the moment.

Hill’s return depends on how he recovers over the next several months. If he takes it seriously and complies with what his doctors, physios, and trainers say, he could be back for the 2026 season.

Dolphins could exit Tyreek Hill’s colossal contract next offseason

When Tyreek Hill’s knee bent the way it did in Week 4, it sparked concerns about whether the wide receiver, who depends a lot on his athleticism to help him play the way he does, could return healthy.

He might return healthy, but significant injuries generally impact athletes psychologically. The Miami Dolphins will look to see how he progresses on that front more than his physical traits.

Even if Hill tries to be careful with his knee, his desire to get open will be enough to convince the franchise to keep him around. On the other hand, if he looks hesitant during private workouts, the Dolphins could think of moving on.

Hill’s $90 million contract was adjusted to help the Dolphins take advantage of the cap. Even with that adjustment, they have a chance to move on from him next offseason, as they would be taking on a measly $28 million dead cap hit.

They could also finesse a trade for some assets, as other teams with a need at receiver might want to take a chance on the eight-time Pro Bowler. His expiring contract will also make financial sense to them, especially if he gets past his marital troubles.
