Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles have been bickering for months about who is faster between them. Finally, the world might get to see a conclusion to that argument as recent reports suggest that they agreed to hold a race later this year before the USATF Outdoor Championships.
It seems Lyles’ recent taunts following his first-place finish at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix played a big part in Hill, ending up on the same page. Hill spoke to People Magazine about their impending race.
This has been an ongoing thing for quite some time now, and I mean, everybody’s seen the back and forth on social media [and] I’ve been very adamant to show people what real, true speed looks like.
Tyreek Hill said
Right after Lyles bagged the Gold Medal in the 100-meter race in the Paris Olympics, Hill announced that he would smoke the 27-year-old if they raced against each other. The back and forth continued between the pair, but the Miami Dolphins wide receiver never agreed to Lyles’ proposal for a race until now.
Everybody says that they’re gonna be the world’s fastest, but when it comes down to it, you gotta be the winner every time.
Noah Lyles said
This was the first time the two athletes appeared for a joint interview for any platform, and according to Lyles, only the third time they have spoken to one another directly.

Have Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles decided upon the distance of their race?
Lyles is a formidable sprinter on 100 meters, while Hill is arguably the fastest in shorter bursts due to his traits as an NFL wide receiver. However, Hill confidently claimed that he could defeat Lyles either way.

Even though they did not reveal whether they had decided on a distance just yet, judging by their conversation, they might settle on going the distance.
If it was 100 meters, it’d be a blowout.
Noah Lyles said
Hill quickly fired back.
Blowout?! The only thing, the only thing that looks like it’s blowing out is your hair.
Tyreek Hill replied
Does the distance really matter? Perhaps on the psychological front. If they stick with 100 meters, then Lyles may have a slight advantage because he is more used to running the length.
As for Hill, he might surprise everyone, but to win, he must shed a few pounds. He currently weighs around 180 pounds, while Lyles is 20 pounds lighter than him. He still has until July to achieve the desired physique, and as there won’t be football, he can completely concentrate on improving his timing, which currently sits at 10.19 seconds (without wind assist), while Lyles clocked 9.79 seconds in Paris.
