The Miami Dolphins may lose one of their star players very soon. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill posted a few cryptic tweets hinting he wants a trade.

Hill often uses his social media to spread the word among his fans. Even though he’s out enjoying the pleasures of the off-season with his buddies and wife, the 31-year-old still keeps one eye on the internet to stay updated about the latest rumors.

One fresh scoop caught Hill’s attention. Over The Cap’s Jason Fitzgerald asked his followers to leave free agency and salary cap-related questions on his X account. One of his followers asked which player might end up on the trade block.

Fitzgerald retweeted the question with his answer. He wrote Tyreek Hill as a possible trade candidate to keep an eye on.

After a short while, Hill shared Fitzgerald’s tweet, diverting attention to himself. Hill’s cryptic tweet, a two-finger emoji, can mean he agreed with Fitzgerald’s prediction.

Mike McDaniel and Will Grier are surprisingly quiet this free agency window. After a poor 2024 campaign, a roster overhaul was in order, but the franchise from Miami remains one of the least spending teams in the NFL. They find themselves squeezed between the Texans and the Raiders, spending a meager $69.9 million compared to their AFC East rivals’ $364 million.

The reason behind the Dolphins frugal spending is their low salary cap. Aside from Hill, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, WR Jaylen Waddle, and cornerback Jalen Ramsey are some of the highest-paid players in the NFL. It limited their spending power.

There’s a way Grier can regain some cash or valuable draft picks by trading Tyreek Hill. That doesn’t mean fans appreciated the decision of Hill potentially abandoning the Dolphins.

Hill threatened to quit the team near the end of the last season. Following the Dolphins’ week 17 loss to the Jets in New York, the 5x All-Pro wideout lost his cool and announced that he wanted out of the building as soon as possible.

He stayed back. McDaniel and the Dolphins brass managed to convince him and restructured his contract to a $30 million per year extension. Yet, ever since the free market opened, Hill continues to be a prime candidate for a shocking trade.

The Dallas Cowboys are a possible trade partner for Tyreek Hill

Hill’s time at South Beach may be numbered even though he once proclaimed his true love for the sandy beaches of Florida and its scenic beauty. He might end up leaving Miami—the AFC—to end up playing for the ‘Americas Team.’

The Sporting News’ Austen Bundy pitched a trade proposal for the Cowboys to acquire Tyreek Hill from the Dolphins.

Jerry Jones is cheap. This is well known. However, he’s proven he’ll break out the checkbook for game-changing stars. He did it for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in 2024, but that’s hampered the team’s ability to bring in a serviceable supporting cast.

Austen Bundy writes

The reasonable concern for the trade to not go through is the $27.7 million salary cap hit in 2025. But Jones can convert a part of the yearly salary into bonuses and siphon off a few numbers from the cap hit. As for the Dolphins, trading Hill will leave them $40 million in dead money (post-June 6 release) as per Fitzgerald.

Hill received an invitation to join the Cowboys from their star pass rusher, Micah Parsons, right after he wanted to quit the team earlier in the year. Parsons’ best bet right now is to focus on his extension above all else.
