Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and the Miami Dolphins had the perfect opportunity to prove to the world they are capable of winning football games when they welcomed the New England Patriots to Hard Rock Stadium.
A flameout from the star wide receiver stoked the possibility of him seeking a trade out of the franchise soon. The players then held a meeting among themselves, looking to iron out any ill feelings after their embarrassing loss to the Colts.
Against the Patriots, despite falling behind a 2 touchdown lead, the Hawaiian quarterback answered back with two scoring throws of his own. With those scores, the Dolphins were in the mix for a win, and it was up to their defense to hold it down.
They held their part of the bargain, forcing the Patriots to punt while Tua Tagovailoa engineered two more field goals to help his team take the lead.
However, the away team scored two more touchdowns, one on a drive and one off a punt return, to regain the lead on the scoreboard. On the next drive, a few short throws saw the home team march 30 yards up the field.
On the next snap, Tyreek Hill broke away from his defender and stopped to turn back, but Tagovailoa’s pass flew high above the star wideout. The 31-year-old was then seen jumping on the field and shaking his head while signaling to the sideline that it was too high.

He had no defender around him, which meant that if he had caught the ball, the Dolphins would have easily picked up enough yards to get into a scoring position. A few snaps later, Tua Tagovailoa threw the ball into Marte Mapu‘s hands, which helped the Patriots extend their lead and win 33-27.
Tyreek Hill labels ‘self-inflicted wounds’ as cause for loss
This marks the Miami Dolphins’ second-straight loss. They will next face the Buffalo Bills, who are on a roll, and a New York Jets team looking to win its first game under Aaron Glenn.
Tyreek Hill was present at the post-game press conference, and reporters asked him several questions, one of which was about the late-game mistakes that cost them a possible win.
Very frustrating, man. Self-inflicted wounds, obviously. We’ll go back, watch the tape, and correct them. For the most part, at the end of the game, those are the kind of the situations as you want as an offense. It’s just coming down to operation and knowing the situation.

The 8-time Pro Bowler did not point fingers at anyone in particular. Rather, he focused on spreading the blame on the entire team for not doing the little things right.
Tua Tagovailoa has bizarre opinion on deep throw to Tyreek Hill
Tagovailoa also took to the dais in the Miami Dolphins’ media center, and one of the reporters asked him specifically about the deep throw to Tyreek Hill that sailed over his head.

Having some talks with Reek and whatnot, that if I do, just don’t think that I’m going to throw it 80 yards. As you’re running, do your best to track it, because you can potentially stop. That’s what ended up happening on that play for Reek.
Tua Tagovailoa replied
He added that in his conversations, he had asked both Hill and Jaylen Waddle to track the ball rather than just going flat out. One of those throws set up his best wideout for a 47-yard catch, his first 30+ yarder in over a year.

Other than that, it seems the Alabama alum is again trying to deflect questions about communication problems with his receivers. The Dolphins have a lot to fix if they want to win games.
