News outlet Record has reported that Manchester United player Tyrell Malacia is set to leave the club for Benfica on loan. As such, a decision on his future will be taken in the summer transfer window. The manager, Ruben Amorim, wants to make some big changes in his team. They are set to sign Patrick Dorgu to strengthen the left side of the pitch.
The inclusion of Dorgu in the Red Devils’ team means that Malacia will not get ample game time. Amorim is a fan of the player, but feels that he should go on loan to get regular game time and play consistently. Malacia suffered a season-ending injury in the last season and returned to action just towards the end of last year.
Quite a number of clubs, with the likes of Real Betis and Benfica, are interested in the player. The Portuguese club wants to sign the United player on loan for the rest of the season. Tyrell Malacia could get the game time that he needs in Benfica and could develop into a better player with his stint in Portugal.
He will definitely face competition from others but has the talent and potential in him to thrive at Benfica and get back to optimum fitness levels. United will definitely monitor the player’s progress during his loan period, and a final decision will be made on Malacia when the summer transfer window arrives.
Malacia has conceded one goal and kept one clean sheet in three matches in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. That means when Malacia is on the pitch, his team concedes a goal every 101 minutes. Moreover, he’s made 0.98 tackles and 1.96 interceptions for every 90 minutes he was on the pitch.

Dorgu is a wingback who possesses pace, physicality, and tactical awareness. He can be a vital asset for the Red Devils. Moreover, the player can feature in multiple positions, playing as a left-wing back and also in the midfield. All these traits make him a vital asset for Amorim.
