WATCH: Tyrese Haliburton goes VIRAL for face-timing girlfriend from locker room during ECF Game 2
Indiana Pacers down 0-2 against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals with Tyrese Haliburton out.
Indiana Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton goes viral for face timing his girlfriend from the locker room during Eastern Conference Finals
Tyrese Haliburton is having the time of his life playing in his first Eastern Conference Finals with the Indiana Pacers. After almost stealing Game 1 from the Boston Celtics, the young superstar was determined to make amends in Game 2. Only for a leg injury to derail his game plan as he left the game. But what he did next has since gone viral.
After leaving the game to get checked out, news trickled in that the Indiana Pacers superstar would not return to the game. As the game continued, a fan captured a video of Haliburton’s girlfriend Jade Jones on a face-time video. She was speaking to none other than her boyfriend, who was supposedly calling in from the locker room.
The video went viral understandably, as no one expected a player, whose team was still fighting on the court to keep their NBA Finals hopes alive, would face-time his girlfriend even if he was out injured. The video shows Tyrese Haliburton saying something and Jones putting the speaker to her ear to hear what he was saying.
He most probably was giving her the news that he was out with the injury. But to do it while the game was still going on was unexpected. Normally, players glue themselves to the TV screen to watch how their teammates are playing.
Tyrese Haliburton must return to keep NBA Finals hopes high
People have not considered the Indiana Pacers to be solid Eastern Conference contenders. That is, until injuries to key superstars derailed the playoffs for the perennial powerhouse teams. The Pacers took advantage of that and have reached their first Eastern Conference Finals in 10 years against the Boston Celtics.
But this new roadblock is looking to derail their chances of making it to the first NBA Finals in 24 years. They need Tyrese Haliburton back. As in the game, it was clear that the Pacers struggled to generate offensive pressure once he left the court. It is the same injury that cost him 10 games in the regular season.
But this time, the Indiana Pacers and Tyrese Haliburton do not have so many games to spare. They need to win and win fast to avoid ending their season. This is probably one of their best chances for reaching the NBA Finals.
