The Indiana Pacers are on a generational run, surely. They knocked out the New York Knicks in the ECF Finals and most recently clinched Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Once again, Tyrese Haliburton was at the helm of the Pacers’ attack. Indiana has won every Game 1 of the playoffs, has made five comebacks of 15 points or more, and Haliburton has always been there to step up when the team needed a critical shot.

Similarly, in Game 1, the Thunder led by nine points with 2:30 left and were the superior team for 45 minutes, but the Pacers once again excelled in clutch play. Haliburton sent Pacers fans into a frenzy and silenced Loud City in the dying minutes of the 4th quarter as he dropped down the game-winning basket on the Thunder. Watch below:

On the road, Indiana has won Game 1 of the NBA Finals 111-110. Game 2 of the Pacers’ 1-0 series lead is scheduled on Sunday in Oklahoma City. The Thunder will have a few days to reflect on the game they believe they let slip away. Despite having 17 more chances to score and 16 more shots, they were unable to convert enough of them.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 38 points and looked like an MVP for the majority of the game, but the Pacers did a decent job of letting him cook and keeping home on other guys. The other players’ nighttime shooting percentage was 36.8%. It seemed like the Thunder would blow this game open for a large portion of the evening, but they never did, and Indiana never gave up.

The Pacers quickly began attacking that, forcing Carson Wallace to switch to the larger Pascal Siakam with off-ball screens. That led to a 10-3 run, and the Thunder withdrew, and the Pacers surged back in what would become a recurring motif of the evening.
