Tyrese Haliburton blames Stephen Curry for his shooting woes

It hasn’t been the best start for Indiana Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton as he had a rough shooting night in the team’s season-opening win over the Detroit Pistons. During the Thursday game, he went 6-for-18 from the field and 1-for-9 from three-point range.

In a lighthearted moment during his post-game interview, Tyrese Haliburton jokingly blamed his poor shooting on advice from Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry. According to Haliburton, Curry suggested he took pregame naps, which Haliburton tried before the game.

Honestly speaking, I’m probably going to blame Steph. He convinced me to try out pregame naps because I told him I don’t nap, and he told me to try it out and text him after the game and see the result. So, he’ll be getting a text from me shortly.

The Pacers’ next matchup was against the New York Knicks, where he struggled again, as he shot 0-8 from the field, including 0-7 from three-point range. However, most fans aren’t bothered about his poor shooting nights as they are not expected to be a long-term concern, given his consistent track record as a reliable shooter.

Both he and Curry had developed a camaraderie while they played together on the US Olympic team over the summer, where they won gold medals. Despite his shooting woes to start the season, Haliburton remains a career 39.2% three-point shooter.

Tyrese Haliburton remains confident despite shooting slump

When Tyrese Haliburton had a scoreless performance in Friday’s 123-98 loss to the New York Knicks, he didn’t seem scared or worried. Instead, despite his struggles, he remained optimistic and calm.

Haliburton acknowledged that his shooting woes affected the team’s offense, but he’s focused on bouncing back. “This ain’t panic mode at all,” he said, already looking forward to his next opportunity. With an off-day shooting session planned, Haliburton is confident he can regain his shooting form.

Like I said, we’ve got an off day tomorrow. I’m going to go in the gym and the great thing is I’m going to get a lot of shots tomorrow and I’m going to get a lot of shots on Sunday and I’ll be ready to go on Sunday.

Alongside the young guard, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle shared his confidence. And rightly so, as he came up with the clutch beyond-the-arc shot to force overtime against the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, the game ended in a loss as the 76ers led by Tyrese Maxey capitalized on Halliburton’s crucial missed free throws to win the game 118-114 in overtime. Haliburton ended the game with an improved stat line of 22 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
